Can not drink much of anything now . Suffering with heart failure means I have to restrict all fluids even water !!!

Shepherd Neame 1698 is ace as PP said. Was introduced to SN when at Uni in Canterbury. Master Brew and Bishop’s Finger. Latterly Spitfire. Took a while to get used to after northern ales.
Lagers; not a big fan. But I quite like the cheap German and French stuff they sell in cans in Asda.
Prefer a summer ale like Waggle Dance in the summer.

Apart from Batemans Combined Harvest, which I like, I've never heard of the rest so it's something to try. I'd also forgotten about Batsman’s XXXB and Guinness Porter both of which are pretty good, the porter is probably an acquired taste though.
I like the sound of Shepherd Neame 1698 (6.5% vol) so I'll have some of that too.
Hopefully, it's going to be a long hot summer so I'll have something to occupy my mind, wife permitting.

My favouritest beer in the world, ever is Tripel Karmeliet. Belgian tripel blonde which Tesco is now selling although only in 750ml bottles which is a hefty drink. Give it a go - it's fantastic stuff.
Other Belgian tripels which are nice are Gouden Carolus, Delirium Tremens and La Chouffe. Lots of others as well, of course. Duvel is passable if the above aren't available. The regular strength blondes such as Leffe are fine, if not spectacular and I don't mind the odd bruin from time to time either.
Most lagers brewed overseas are pretty good - Stella, Kronenbourg, San Miguel, Heineken, etc. It's only the bastardised versions brewed under licence in the UK which are rubbish. Not quite sure what corners are cut to make them so poor in comparison to their continental brethren.
Budvar my favourite lager, I think. Not a great fan of the German lagers, however. Just don't like the style that much.

Noticed Tripel Karmeliet is now in Morrisons too(750ml) Also they have Westmalle Tripel & Chimay both superb Belgium choices. Noticed also Fruh Kolsch from cologne & the legendary HB (Hofbräu Original ) from Munich. Exmoor Gold is excellent btw.

I used to go to Morrisons now and then to pick up some of the wheat beers they sold that Tesco didn't (I used to quite like the Erdinger Dunkel, but I've gone off it recently). As I'm based in Cleethorpes, Morrisons is a bit of a hike, so I'm pleased to say that Tesco sell a lot more good stuff now as well. I've also ordered from Beer Merchants, Beers of Europe and (back when they were shipping to the UK last year!) Beers of Belgium.
Oddly enough, it's only 20-odd years ago that I used to order deliveries of Erdinger from Majestic Wines because none of the supermarkets sold wheat beers back then! The difference in choice in supermarkets now compared to then is absolutely remarkable. Probably greater than a ten-fold increase in the range.

My favourite beer is Wye Valley Brewery's Butty Bach.
First had it on a trip to Hereford but at the time you couldn't get it round here.

Butty Bach is decent Les. They have it on the hand pull in a few pubs around our way
I also like Hooky Original and Hooky Gold - used to work not far away from the brewery in Hook Norton, Oxon. Exmoor Gold is a nice drop too.
As a northerner, I think you can't go wrong with Timmy Taylor's Landlord or Boltmaker.
There was also a Maple-leaf Joseph Holt ale I used to enjoy but not seen it for yonks.
I also really enjoy Kelham Island's Pale Rider, Easy Rider and Rider on the Storm, as someone else mentioned, Ginnywings I think.
Flirted with wanky hipster craft ales and do like some of the Tiny Rebel, Brew Dog, Four Pure and New England IPAs etc... but bit overpriced in my humble opinion.
I got into Beer Hawk deliveries over lockdown - had some really tasty, crisp German lagers - Paulaner and Spaten have to be my favourites.
Now the sun's out I'm on the cid. Sheppey's is my cider of choice although I'm slumming it tonight on Weston's, which to be fair, ain't bad.
Old gag my cider loving brother in law used to play on barstaff was: "I see the landlady Cathie has Strongbow, Thatcher's and Weston's on...but has she ever had Dickens?" Cue barstaff shouts to a colleague: "Has Cathie ever had Dickens cider?" I'll get me coat.

I'm a wine male masturbator mainly so dont touch much beer....however, (and this may be controversial)...since I've been down south....Harveys from Sussex - always superb...
But seeing the Bateman's XXXB - I love that stuff when I go back to Lincolnshire. Sometime I see it as a guest ale in my local in That There London and order one straight away.
As I got older I found bitters a little bit too sweet after 1 pint.
The Punk Dog and IPA beers I find just too much.....
A nice Chablis or a Gevrey Chambertin.....hmmm
Ah - flash black - The Imperial pub - 14:45 - my dad ordering another 2 pints of ( I think) Tetleys to get him through the first half!

Had 2 pints of Ilkley Blonde in Malham last night, and have recently been enjoying a selection made by Salt Brewery in West Yorks (now in Morrison’s), and an older favourite - Timothy Taylor Knowle Spring.
Really like the Belgian Blondes too. Ice coldLeffe in a proper glass on a hot day is a treat.
Shepherd Neame 1698 (6.5% vol) & King Goblin (6.6% vol) are pretty good :)
Thank you for your recommend and enjoyed them both with Shep Neame my preference. I also tried Butty Bach which Les recommended but I wasn't too keen.
I shall add some more to the wife's shopping list next month. ;) ;) ;)

Lidl have got their Belgian beer selection pack on sale again, apparently.
12 quid for 6 beers including 2 different Gulden Draak beers and 2 different Piraat (each 10.5% vol) plus a Bornem dubbel (7.3%) and a Bornem Tripel (9%).
All are pretty tasty (Bornem Tripel my favourite of the pack) with the strongest ones good sipping beers!

Whenever I am in Sheffield the Tap on the train station is must visit place for trying something different every time you go in.
For anyone going further a field and visiting Norwich they must drop in on the Belgian Monk, excellent selection of belgian beer, not the cheapest by any stretch however the connoisseur will not be disappointed.

Haven't had a Gold Label for many decades. Use to drink Carlsberg SB a couple of decades ago, but not recently. In fact, I can't recall seeing it on the shelves for a few years. I seem to think SB got a bad press due to its high alcohol content.

It is a national promotion. Started a week or two ago, but they don't tend to sell out quickly (not in the Grimsby Lidls, at least). They were only 9 quid a couple of years ago which was preposterously cheap!

The Wine Pipe is now the name of a pub down Freemo, whether there is a connection, or not I don' know. It also reminds me of the Cross Keys, which was in Cleethorpes High St. I seem to remember that when it was pulled down the council of the day promised to keep the name in memory of the pub.
They did as the Cross Keys in New Walham, but then they let the name change and now it's now the Farmhouse; so much for the council keeping their promise.

I've never really tried many of the lesser known brands, never been to a beer festival.
Like: Corona with lime, Caffrey's with a dash of lemonade, Coors Light, Budweiser,
Dislike: Becks, Stella, any super strengths like Carlsberg Special Brew, Tenants Super, they taste vile.
Blimey, I've actually been in 9 of those 10 pubs. The only one I hadn't been in was Ye Olde Wine Pipe, as that was demolished when I was 7!

I worked for a craft ale distributor for 2 years before I moved over to Ireland. Got plenty of great samples from the likes of deya, tiny rebel, northern monk, abc etc but, non were really to my taste.
New Bristol do a very more some marshmallow stout and a cinder toffee one too.
Am more of a pils/lager fan though and like the European ones such as jupiler, ayinger, warsteiner etc and virtually any ‘helles’ too. There’s a couple of great breweries in Bristol that do amazing pils : lost and grounded - Keller pils and electric bear - Edison pils.

The 'craft beer' scene is good in many ways as it has created a lot of interest in the quality of beer, but I'm not the greatest fan of many of them. Fundamentally, the craft beer guys tend to chuck a excrement-ton of hops into almost all of their beers and it is just too overpowering sometimes. I've got more of a taste for them in recent years - quite like the West Coast IPA style due to the sediment (I'm a fan of wheat beers in general, too). Some of the fruitier IPAs aren't bad either. Aldi, for instance, often have a blood orange IPA (called Otis, I think) which is nice from time to time.
Ultimately, I prefer Belgian blondes/Tripels, but it's nice to have a variety of styles in the house depending on your mood.
For lagers, some of the continental stuff is pretty good. Not a great fan of most of the German pilsners though I am partial to Warsteiner now and again. Budvar probably still my favourite and Asda are still doing a great deal on that with 12 cans for 9 quid.
Whatever beer you are having, make sure you drink it out of a glass. You can't taste a beer properly if you can't smell it so swigging out of bottles or cans is pointless unless you're just trying to get drunk for the sake of it. I suppose Corona/Sol with a slice of lime in the neck are an exception to this rule. They don't taste of anything really, so the lime does at least add a bit of flavour!

We are currently parked up at the end of the world in farthest north west Scotland and the only beer we have is some Coors light. Think I could drink about 50 bottles before I felt any effects.
It's pish, as they say around these parts. Dont know how people drink this sort of stuff on a permanent basis.
