Absolute tw&t.

Does lead have a specific gender?

I think this is a tasteless remark to somebody who is ill, regardless of it being covid or some other illness. I have never met anybody who decides to go and get ill especially covid.

Their are a few on here who are not keen on me and a few who I have a spat with but I would never suggest to them that they went and got covid on purpose. Theirs banter, leg pull, having a joke and having a pop at somebody, but this goes beyond any of these to a new total low statement.

The best thing IMO is that you apologise and hope Hagrid gets well soon.

But what if he catches it from someone at the party and brings it into the squad? Testing twice a week merely detects if someone has Covid, it doesn’t prevent idiot players who have broken the rules from passing it from player to player inbetween Covid tests.

This is breaking rules and placing team mates and staff at two clubs in direct threat of passing the Virus.
Yes they get tested twice a week but it only takes one person to pass it on to many which could lead to bad illness and death.

Irresponsibe and should be sacked. Im sure there are others that would break a limb to get the opurtunity he has been given.

I imagine they work just like everyone else, and if all these same people were stood next to each other in a factory, sat in a call centre or squeezed on a train going to an office nobody would give a single solitary shiite. So spare us the hypocrisy.

Just seems like people are lashing out because they’ve been denied their usual Saturday whipping boy. If you’re that bothered call the police.

I see the government getting the public to blame each other rather than them and their disastrous handling of the pandemic is alive and well in your house.

I’m sorry you are still having side effects but where we are isn’t due to individuals making poor decisions it’s because of the government.

You talk about the woman in your office. Have you considered that she simply can’t afford to take time off work. If she does she can’t pay the mortgage/rent and wouldn’t have enough money to feed her and her family?

Who’s fault is that? Her for living close to the poverty line or the callous people who have actively cut money from the most vulnerable in society for over 10 years?

People have been put in a no win situation.

The peaceful vigil attendees in Clapham got the same treatment from the police just for standing there with candles.

Almost as if the problem lies with how the police decide to deal with crowds they’ve decided they don’t like? Not that anyone on a football forum would have any experience of that kind of thing...

The other day was 18 years since the Rotherham away win when the “Clap clap clap clap clap clap fish” chant was born.

It was also the night I was struck completely unprovoked by a South Yorkshire Police officer with his baton when leaving Millmoor.

Police are like protesters. Most are good people but they get tarred by the actions of the bad ones amongst them.

The Clapham Common vigil and Bristol protest, along with many other so called peaceful protests, were infiltrated by people intent on violence. Seems to be the done thing for a certain section of society today. The police are in a no win situation. The crowd had loads of anti police and anti new security bill people handing out leaflets and rabble rousing. Just look at a lot more footage than the brief bits you saw on the news, fully balaclaved men pushing and shoving the peaceful people from a couple of rows behind into the police line, the 2 guys that look like they were carrying rounders bats, keeping women safe! they had no intention of supporting it. PS virtually everyone at the vigil was breaking the law planned to be peaceful or not.  And no I'm not a Tory either.

And how many more are we going to have?

How far can a pension go? 5 Grandchildren, Americanisms, Halloween, 13 years Becoming a Teenager special birthday, Sweet 16 special birthday, 18 years special birthday, added to the actual birth, wetting the babies head, Christening, 21 years special birthday, weddings, Christmas, Easter, some holiday money, I am sure I have missed some.

Plus the dog has to send Mummy Birthday, Christmas and Mother's Day presents.

And now Gender Reveal parties.

The only Americanism I qualify for receiving at my age is Grandparents Day and the Grandkids don't know about that one, I have even paid for my own funeral.  :-/

Apart from the fact that he looks to have broken lockdown rules, which is not good I am also annoyed at Montel for letting lots of people know, who previously hadn't heard about Gender Reveal Parties.

Bit difficult to comment on the government’s response to a pandemic if you’re not experiencing one.

Still, let us know where and when people are allowed to express an opinion, an hour at speaker’s corner perhaps?

Why not? I went to a gender reveal party and it was basically a good excuse for people to come together, drink a few drinks and have a good time. Not sure why that would bother someone so much to call it "effing nonsense"?

Can't say I agree with Montel holding one during lockdown but in general why not use any excuse to have fun, life is too short not to.

It’s funny. You see protests that turn violent on TV from countries like Myanmar, Hong Kong and Georgia (and many more) and we all think it’s because they have terrible governments/regimes and that the action of the protesters is justified.

It happens in our country and they are just a mob and scumbags.

You never really know a persons situation and it’s unfair to arbitrary decide that she’s in the wrong.

I managed a team of 35-40 people in a previous job. It was an eye opener to the problems people face in life.

Violent partners. Controlling partners. Partner is an alcoholic/drug addict. Partner is seriously/terminally ill. Partner has walked out. Child is ill. Mental health issues. Partner has committed a horrendous crime.

For some physically going to work is a persons safe place from an unhappy home life. The 9-10 hours they are at work and travelling to work is the difference between coping with their adversity or not.

What a bizarre response to a post that made it clear that the majority of protesters were peaceful, and not a mob or scumbags.

And by the way, comparing the protests to a country going through a military coup is pointless as they’re incomparable situations.

But we live in a country where the government feel the need to suppress all protest- peaceful included.

Doesn’t that worry you? Not the action of a stable government in a democracy is it?

As others have said you don’t need to be committing acts of violence for the police to use violence against you.

The people at Clapham May have been committing a crime but the police clearly used disproportionate force. Ironic really given the reason for the vigil in the first place was because a copper had allegedly murdered a woman in the street.

Sounds to me like you have one or two issues, considering your rant at such a simple question

Bit difficult to comment on the government’s response to a pandemic if you’re not experiencing one.

Still, let us know where and when people are allowed to express an opinion, an hour at speaker’s corner perhaps?

He’s entitled to air his views, I just disagree with the trend of people using the pandemic to throw everything at the government and almost enjoying anything they get wrong.

I voted Labour but I’m not personally of the opinion that the Conservatives can take the blame for the entire pandemic whilst the left male masturbation themselves into a New Zealand themed coma. They’ve done a terrible job with a lot of things and a fantastic job with others (vaccine rollout) yet people seem so blinded by their political views they’ll never ever accept that (both left and right).

As others have said you don’t need to be committing acts of violence for the police to use violence against you.

The people at Clapham May have been committing a crime but the police clearly used disproportionate force. Ironic really given the reason for the vigil in the first place was because a copper had allegedly murdered a woman in the street.

I don't agree with the violence against the police but you do have to think that they have brought all these problems on themselves since covid started. Since the ban on mass meetings, because of covid, we have all witnessed on tv the huge number of mass attendances on beaches, parks, demo's etc. and the police did nothing.

It's easy to see the police outnumbered at these events but if they had done their job at the first mass meeting then the rest would have been deterred. They did not have to wade into crowds but merely stop people getting their. Here we have had loads of trippers coming down the A/M180 so why not turn the cars around at say Great Coates r/about, Laceby r/about, Toll Bar r/about etc. The message would get through; instead our Chief Constable took his now widely reported viewpoint.

I'm not saying it would be that easy in a large city but if things were prevented months ago the police would not be in the position they were at Bristol and Clapham Common.

Listened to the early news and the Chief Constable and Mayor were confirming many were 'professional type rioters' who in from outside Bristol to get at the police.

Their are idiots all over but the worst of the rioters went prepared for violence. This is no reflection on the main population of Bristol. Bristol just happened to be the chosen town.

So they were randomly walking down a road and just happened to find fireworks, bottles, bricks etc. at the same time as a few more doing their daily exercise outside a police station,

No they were probably ordinary, local people rather than “professional rioters” from outside Bristol. Coverage from the night shows the bricks, railings & other bits came from a nearby building site.

This line has been used over and over and over to delegitimise any protest. And it always will be whilst people continue to swallow it.

It's not about swallowing anything, the police are far from perfect. There is a law, like it or not, about people not being aloud in mass's because of covid. You don't have to like a law but you have to obey, If not you have anarchy.
Posted by: ska face, March 22, 2021, 10:08pm; Reply: 89
What’s any of that got to do with these people being “professional rioters” and you swallowing the line?

You’ve said it yourself - the police ARE far from perfect. One of their main problems is that they lie constantly, all day every day, and you don’t have to go back to Hillsborough or Orgreave to find examples.

Remember when we were playing away at Chesterfield and the police put out a communication to the effect that a number of pubs were off limits to away fans because town fans had smashed them up? Which turned out to be a complete and utter lie. Just made up. And for what reason? Oh, because it suited them.

What he's saying is that there isn't any evidence that they were 'professional rioters'. Missiles were available locally. We all know how police forces can lie about incidents. Ska has given you examples. We also know how they can over-react to protests, causing them to escalate (witness Clapham Common). We know how they can unjustly treat peaceful protestors (and innocent bystanders). We've all seen how they can operate at and around football matches.

Now I don't know who sparked it off in Bristol, but I have enough scepticism about the police from a lifetime of observations that I have my doubts about the official version.

Having said all that, I don't know why a police station was chosen as the scene of a protest, as it's Parliament that makes the laws.

you need to go to the supermarket to get food, you don't need 15 people inside your house to announce the sex of your baby wearing what I can only describe as a tracksuit that constituted a sackable offense on its own.

Let’s not forget the sometimes mind boggling approaches taken and enforced. Crawley away...could have a glass with a pint before 2pm but once it gets to 2pm the pub have to start using plastic ‘on police advice’.

Of course, we’ve seen examples of decent police work, especially at football but in all the years I/we’ve been going the good is dwarfed by the odd/bad and bizarre.

As for a gender reveal party, what a crock of excrement. That day comes when the little thing pops out...

Those girls in Clapham must be some of these professional rioters, as even a keen amateur wouldn’t have been able to throw items at the police, behind them, with their hands gripping the bandstand, before they were dragged away and pinned to the floor.

That tactic is working well in Myannmar, perhaps I shouldn't be amazed that people are advocating shooting protesters with no trial or justice involved.
The police lying about having officers with broken bones and punctured lungs does themselves no favours whatsoever, the news was quick to repeat these lies but very shy to report when the police admitted they made it up.

I thought that as well, although I couldn't believe he watched it for 2 hours so I thought it must be an interesting post. Girls privates, so they had short skirts on! or none! I didn't know if they were on booze or drugs? Then someone was asked how much and they didn't have a clue, definitely drink and drugs!

Must have been one hell of a party for the police to use force, but hey each to their own and if that's the sort of party Montel has well it's his choice. Two shots in his leg though is a bit harsh, even though we don't rate him much as a player.

I read yesterday that the police have now changed their story, so presumably, the people of Bristol should now have a vote of no confidence in the Chief Constable for spreading malicious gossip!

You also have to wonder why the Police waded into those sitting on the ground protesting. Let's face it they were going nowhere, it's nightfall and it would be getting colder. Surely it would have been better to leave them in situ till the morning. You also have to question why the police have resources for this action but didn't when people were having mass gatherings on beaches during the height of the covid epidemic.

Overreaction by the police when there was no need and lack of action when it was needed. The actions of the protesters would not have killed anyone, but those on beaches and in parks with no social distancing could have been fatal to  others.

Am I the only one that thinks mass gatherings were banned to prevent the spread of COVID?

We’re kicking off because a second rate footballer had a small group of friends over (which was wrong) yet people are justifying even larger groups protesting. When the third wave comes and lockdown is forced upon us AGAIN don’t go blaming the government because people can’t stick to simple rules

I thought this manipulation of the media (not sure if they were complicit or not) had vanished with the advent of camera phones. Reminds me of how the Hillsborough tragedy was reported and the persecution of Irish Catholics during the troubles.
