We’re still above average in the figures, and it’s not just about cases per 100k, it takes the percentage of available ITU beds into consideration as well. It’s not a surprise at all.

I think the whole country should be in Tier 3 minimum if we're purely talking about genuine containment.

However, the contrast between the South and the North when it comes to Tiering against the numbers and science that is supposedly leading this is staggering.

No issue with being in Tier 3.  But I hope people remember the contempt this Government treats people who don't live within an hours travel of London.

When is it ever not under great pressure? only recently closed a ward too, now we are struggling for beds.

Herefordshire moving to tier 2, right next door to Wales, let’s have the police on the border stopping the Welsh “visiting” like they did a few weeks ago.

Actually, all of you saying London is treated better clearly haven’t noticed that London and parts of surrounding counties were also put into Tier 3 this week.

The whole country will probably be back in Tier 3/lockdown come January anyway. Strong government messaging about Christmas or not you can't get away from the fact that increased mixing leads to increased transmission.

No we are not . 122 is below average and we have 0 in itu in gy , about 4 in scunny I think

It's not just about who has how many cases. The demographic plays a large part in it, as does hospital bed availability. An area may have less cases, but those cases may be present more in the old, and those more likely to need hospital treatment. We are having way more people die in local hospitals than we were in the first wave, and way more cases, putting strain on the NHS. A family member works between Lincoln and Boston Pilgrim hospitals, and it's carnage.

On another note, just done my once yearly trip into the precinct and although most are following the rules, there's a large element of chavvy types walking around without masks, ignoring arrows for pedestrian traffic flow, and thinking it's ok to stand in massive gangs drinking Costa and eating Greggs, whilst blocking entryways. Not just young people either; entire families. Cases will rise after Christmas, I have no doubt.

Think that is breaking it down into smaller regions though, whereas the government look at the county as a whole. N.E.Lincs has less than the national average and falling, but other areas of Lincs have high cases and rising.

I personally think we should have a stricter lockdown everywhere, and forget the Christmas 5 day relaxation. It's all going to kick off again in the new year, but must keep those wheels of industry turning eh?

The government started looking at counties but are now breaking it down. Where I live in Peterborough is going into tier 3 whereas the rest of Cambridgeshire is much lower and an average would have kept us in tier 2. As has been said demographic and bed space is also considered along with the the rate of the rise or the rate of the decline.

I was optimistic that a couple of small northern areas might be dropped from tier 3 to tier 2 so the government could pretend that the north isn’t being copulated over again. And I hoped NEL might be one of those small areas based on the rate dropping quite considerably. But it wasn’t to be.

With Boris’ virus Petri dish Christmas undoubtedly going to undo all the hard work or the past 3 months of tiers and lockdown II, I can’t see us being back until March if we’re lucky. Maybe next season.

You've got it there.

No point having the extra bed capacity if you're pulling critical staff away from other areas.

Which brings up another argument about why there isn't enough staff.
