I'm no longer local, but I've some friends coming up on Saturday, can anyone recommend a good fish an chip take away on the front? We usually go to Steele's/Beckett's. but I'm assuming there's similar standard along the front?

A lot of the chippies have long queues at the weekend, Papas on the Pier are doing Click and Collect which might help.

Avoid Papas, staff are saying on Twitter that they haven't been paid a penny through lockdown, allegedly.

Ernie Becketts are doing call and collect which means you get to jump the queue when you arrive. Just call a few hours in advance as they only have a set number of slots.

wouldnt bother with Steele's gone downhill alarmingly in the last few years

Had Steels takeout today. Absolutely lovely. Heard how some of the staff have been treated at another very large establishment. They won't be getting my custom in the future.

Well that won't be a problem at the moment and anyway it's the food that counts and tI bet the jumbos are still amazing. Certainly wish I could go there right now although I suppose there were hundreds of half drunk Yorkies after a few takeaway pints in plastic cups queueing outside.

I think the service counts if you are eating in a restuarant and having to wait nearly 35 minutes for just fish and chips was frigging crap service and it wasn't even busy. But it was nice to see that someone who knew the waitress and arrived well after us got served at the same time as us.
