Great night - I was in the Pontoon, which was absolutely rocking that night

I was in the 'little club' after the match having a pint with Mick Brolly.
Super guy and very modest.

I was there half way up, centre behind the goal fags in the inside pocket because they always got squashed in a side pocket, your arms were pinned anyway.
I used to love it then especially when we tumbled down to the front during the corners,  health and safety heh!

I was at the back of the Pontoon, slightly to the left of the goal for both the Everton and Wolves matches. Couldn’t see a bloody thing but absolutely brilliant nights.

Me too in the Ponny in the middle. Packed like sardines in a tin. When the surge went it was ace. Every man for himself. The noise incredible. What an atmosphere. We can still create it though. Recently Chelsea away was brill and my 18 year old lad still talks of his away day at Palace. I think the surge is now a thing of the past with seating. Mind you, we could always do non-league again... ;D

Brian Kidd scored for Everton.  He had won (and scored)  the European Cup with United.  There must be a a number of other players who have played at BP who have won the CL or European Cup.

Garry Birtles is an obvious one.  Ruud Gullit I think.

Teddy Sherringham, Dwight Yorke?, Andy Cole.

Must be other Forest or Villa players.

Kevin Keegan and Ray Clemence?

Frank Lampard?

Sterling is a difficult one as he played at BP forr England under 16s (Think it was the U16s).

Can people think of others?

(There have also been some outstanding players at BP who did not win the CL/European Cup).

Great night. I was in the open corner between The Osmond and The Barretts right next to the Everton fans, there were even a few in with us in that corner. Absolutely rammed in the ground that night.

Fantastic. First time I've seen the goals, including on the night itself when I was too small to see despite being near the front of the Pontoon. What a night though - was walking on air - so proud of that Town team - and still am!

He didn't win the European Cup but played in a final — Ivano Bonetti  :)

Was in my normal spot in the Barratt's - was there ever a better stand?

In the morning on the way to work I went into my local newsagents at the bottom of Grimsby Road and saw four Evertonians who had very obviously been staying over, and well hung over to boot. So I asked Peter the newsagent, as loud as I possibly could for a copy of every paper that had a report on the greatest Town game I'd ever seen last night. It's not very day you get to lord it over one of the top teams in the country.

I don't think Lampard played at BP but Michael Carrick did (Spurs '05 before winning the CL in '08 )

Ashley Cole played for Palace in 2000 (his league debut!) and won the CL in 2012.

Andy Robertson might have played in a friendly for Hull at BP, but even if he did, it's a friendly and doesn't really count!

Oh, James Milner for Swindon in 2003.

Stood in the main stand pontoon end with my late dad and late brother in law what happy memories I have of this night can’t believe it was 40 years ago. We had a bottle of whisky to keep us warm and then back to sisters for her fantastic spare ribs ( wish we still had the recipe )

Remember the 2nd goal like it was yesterday - even though I was in the Pontoon!

I don't think he could have been on a big wage either, he used to call at our car spares shop for bits.

A lovely man and what a night that was.  :)

Was Terry Donavan in the Villa squad when they won it? or did he join them later

I was there, in the Barrett stand, Pontoon open corner.
I’ll never forget the headline on the back page of the Daily Mirror the next day, it said-

“Brolly Reigns”

Superb night.

Little did I know at the time Mike Brolly would be a teacher at my daughters school over twenty years later, St Mary's on the Nunny.

Osmond open corner for me, fantastic night !

The younger fans on here always wonder why us old gits are always moaning about the quality of football being dished up here week in and week out, well here's your answer ! Those years were the norm for us and its hard to forget. Not that we would want to, they were fantastic times.
