What a night that was. Absolutely battered for 89 minutes in the pouring rain.

Still the most one-sided game I have ever seen when the team on top lost.

Batchy and Chris Nichol were immense that night.

Wasn't there but listened to it on the radio with a fair bit of the family...we all just jumped around the room for 3 or 4 minutes, screaming, squealing and knocking things over when it went in, just like we were in the Pontoon(clap)

One thing that amazes me from that clip is how quickly the Town players were back in their own half and lined up for kick-off.

Can you image what would happen in similar circumstances these days!

Just after we scored I got wholloped on the head by 10p coin, and they were big buggers in those days.
Bit hairy getting back to Lime Street too but it was well worth it for the weeks of gloating I got over the Scousers I was with at Uni at the time

Wow there
Everton had won their first 12 games of the season and were top of the top league(now Premier League) I think
We were indeed battered for 89 minutes.
Wilko scored and eventually joined Everton.
Happy days....

Yep a horrible green colour :( The Evertonians were not a happy bunch either the coach windows got put through and the Town fans piled off and a Battle Royale started took the cops ages to bring that under control with massive sticks. On the plus side the Journey home though cold was one of those proud to be a Mariner moments we had just beaten the best club side in Europe (arguably the World) in their own backyard.
