Sky Bet have opened a book for the promotion odds next season. We're 7/1. It's likely you'll get a much better price when the market is more established and the play-off final has taken place, but it gives a good idea of where we'll stand. I certainly intend going big on us from the start. I've stuck a few quid on us in this early market to put a stake in the ground. Tranmere stands out for me as well, without looking at how they are set up for next year at this early stage.

Full decimal odds

MK Dons - 2.63
Mansfield - 2.88
Northampton - 2.88
Lincoln - 3.00
Bury - 3.50
Notts County - 3.50
Oldham - 3.50
Swindon - 3.50
Carlisle - 4.50
Cambridge - 6.00
Cheltenham - 6.00
Colchester - 6.00
Newport - 6.50
Port Vale - 6.50
Crewe - 7.50
Macclesfield - 7.50
Stevenage - 7.50
Tranmere Rovers - 7.50
Forest Green - 8.00
Grimsby - 8.00
Crawley - 10.00
Morecambe - 10.00
Yeovil - 10.00

Waste of money at this moment in time, Terrible odds on a lot of them. Save your money until pre season

Not sure how odds like these can be forecast at this time when squads haven't been put together yet. I notice MK Don's are considered promotion favourites because they've just come down, it didn't work too well for Chesterfield. Good recruitment with MJ in charge and I don't see why at least a playoff position isn't possible.
Here's hoping....UTM!

Looks like they've made those odds up based more or less on last season's league table. It's not that I disagree with 7:1. It's what our odds are relative to others that I don't get. Unless something drastic goes wrong in the Summer, I can see our position improving. So if you're gonna take a punt on us any time, now's the time to have a little flutter.

All the odds are short, they'll do this to see who's the well backed teams and correspond that to who they feel are the strongest then that'll dictate the odds in a few weeks time. Ie Yeovil I think will drop to atleast 20/1

Actually these odds aren't too bad.Imagine it was a non-handicap horse race and you were having a place only bet on the tote.--L. Brook

Exactly, four teams get promoted, so the odds are going to be short, as 4 teams out of 24 pay out.

If you convert them to probabilities they sum to 466%. 400% would be a completely fair market (ignoring the fact there are 23 teams), so it's not terrible.

If a lot of money goes on a team the price could well shorten, even at this stage.

Agreed. There seems to be a fair bit of recognition nationally for the impact by Jolley so it wouldn't surprise me to see our price come in quite a bit as neutral money goes on us.

We'll be about 25-1 or 33-1 just before the season starts. That's when to put the money on. I also like Tranmere's odds and will be ahving a few bob on them as well.

I agree with the above from JDT. Maybe not as fat as 25/1 but probably 16/1 or thereabouts, so a much better time to punt if you ask me. Plus then you'll be able to make a judgement on the relative quality of our (and other) squads. We aren't going be be amongst the favourites and we won't attract a lot of neutral money so 7/1 is possibly the shortest we'll be for months. I won't be betting yet.

Just out of curiosity, what’s the max that skybet will let you guys put on, @ 7/1? £160 for me.

Would only allow me 27.50 at 40/1 for the title.

You must be winning too often dhm! :-)

See, 40/1 for the title but 7/1 for promotion is not value is it.

Surely it is, seeing as you can win the 4th promotion spot finishing 7th?

I suppose it is a sense then yeah, but surely timing is the key.

I doubt we'll be anything like that. On the other hand, I got 33/1 for Shrewsbury to be promoted last July and they finished strongly like us. There are 3 promotion places not 4 in their division though.

To win the league no doubt but they won't be that for promotion

I agree Cloudy-I think some people are getting mixed up with winning the league and getting promoted.
