Why do we have so many toxic fans?

Not sure if the fishy is representative of fans in general but if it is we must have the most negative fans. I’m looking forward to the game tomorrow and excited that our best player (Jamey Osborne) may finally get to play. There are plenty of games left this season and we should be backing the club, players and management.

Some comments made by fans on other media platforms are cringeworthy.

By toxic you mean people with opinions that differ from yours?

Fifteen years of shite football and a lack of hope for the future of the football club we all love that's been and being mismanaged so badly?

It's called running out of patience and having a last go at crying out for radical change before giving up and having to walk away..

Pretty much sums it up I'd say.

It really boils my p1ss when people say Town fans are toxic. Football fans are the same the world over mate, and how many other sets of fans do you know that have done an operation promotion type event? Bet there aren't many.

I want to look forward to the game tomorrow, but i'm not because it's as as dull as fook at BP.

I start fresh every season and forget about the past and give the man or people in charge a chance. I've now been to watch Grimsby 5 times this season and listened to atleast 10 games. Apart from Cheltenham away I've been ashamed and appauled at the lack of any sort to football from us. I liked Slade when he was originally here, 1st season he tried to play good football and it got us to an average league position. The 2nd season he did this percentage excrement which almost got us promoted. So in a small way I can see why he would try it again but we don't have the players for it. We have a squad of which most are capable and more suited to the ball on the deck.

I agree with you Ginny. But the fact is presently I would say the vast majority of Town fans are toxic and I don't think it's going to change unless there's change.

We held it together through the indignation and shame of being non-league. Drew plaudits universally for Operation Promotion and our amazing away support. They were the only things that kept me going.

We helped the club get over the line through the money raised and keeping home gate receipts high. It's a fact that JF and the club couldn't do it on their own. The club had found its natural Fenty level of being the nearly man team in the Conference after dropping from the Championship .
We have to ask ourselves, what has that effort, generosity in spirit and commitment all been for?

What we've got now? A club with falling gates that's destined to the Fenty level of the Conference again and worse because us fans won't be as generous in spirit next time? A club whose owner hectors the club's fans rather than answering perfectly reasonable questions about his own poor performance? A club whose owner embarrasses the club on a regular basis? A club that has no coherent plan for the future other than keeping the incumbent owner in place and buggger the rest of us because we're all too thick to understand what he understands?

Is this what we all stuck around and fought for?

Why is it that we the fans get the blame time and time again when we're not in control of the club's destiny?

Toxic now perhaps but next stage is apathy which would be far more damaging.

I think aside from Danny Collins, Jamey Osbourne, Sirki Dembele and Sam Jones they are all shite.

I think I'll reach that stage by January if RS is still in charge and he struggles once again to bring in his main targets since it's an undesirable club and undesirable manager with a habit of failing and getting fired.

The club has been toxic since Towns number 1 fan started his dictatorship.

negative fans, abusive fans have always been at GTFC, its just that the positive fans have nothing to shout about at the moment so you can hear the toxic element more.

We have so many toxic fans because the club is a shambles, led by a man who specialises in relegation and bad appointments. Next question?
