Forgive me for my ignorance but any of you who watch the youth players do we have anyone up and coming who is likely to get near the first team in the next 12 -18months? The only players in recent times I have heard getting anywhere near has been Clifton and Venney but neither have managed to break through do we have anyone likely to buck this trend ?

There is Buckleys Grandson, Brandon- highly rated.

Both the youth team full backs show a little promise but as always it is the jump to senior football

The set up now is so much better than when we were in non league from a coaching and infrastructure point of view but it will probably take a few more years to bear fruit.

I still hope Clifton gets an opportunity sooner rather than later

The right back is the captain, MacMillan (?) or something whilst the left back is Davis.
Brandon seems to like to play the Number 10 role in modern day parlance and floats around off the main striker whenever i have seen him

Just out of curiosity can we name an eleven using the last player in that position that`s come through the youth team and who made the first team please help fill in any blanks.

1 Steve Croudson
2 Brad Wood
3 Gary Croft
4 Ryan Bennett
5 Charlie L`Anson
6 Peter Bore
7 Nick Heggarty
8 Graham Hockless
9 Danny North
10 Andy Taylor
11 John Oster

Andi Thanoj. Tom Corner made 11 appearances in 10/11, is that scraping the barrel a bit?

I don't think Hockless was a yoof team product though, I think Lawrence signed him at 18 (when he also signed Ford and those 2 dutch fellas).

I was really struggling to fill the team sheet in and Andy Thanoj was the player who`s name I could not remember we can swap him for Hockless

I see Emile Powles (local lad) starting for the reserves. Understand he is 16.

Thats a positive, although I would rather see Clifton play in his natural midfield position i wonder if Sladeisace is trying to turn him into a full back??

I have only watched them in the FA Youth Cup and apart from the no. 10 non impressed me.

Powles came on in the Checkatrade too.

Heard great things about young Buckley.....what a story that would be!

Emil's just turned 17 - cracking lad, been with the club since Under 9s. Certainly think he's got a future.

I took in the youth game at the weekend, really enjoyable. Far more enjoyable than the first team offerings.

Two full backs were very composed and offered good outlets to switch the play. Buckley is the one everyone is hoping on because he has this lovely ability to float past players effortlessly. Technically he looks one hell of a prospect, if he's going to make it though he will need to be more physical. He's not a small lad either.

One who stood out for me was the lad Walker up front. Quick, strong, good control and hell of a work-rate. Although we scored two late goals without him on the pitch, we were lacking a bit going forward when he went off.

Great to see some positive comments it would be nice to think if we MUST participate in the Checkawhat Trophy we use it to blood our youth players with first teamers.

I don't know who played up front in the FA Youth Cup game but they looked out of their depth even at this level.

As I have mentioned before I thought the no.10 had a good game and also the right back.

The striker who started had a bad night but the lad who replaced him at half time was very lively without the final pass/finish
