I watch a lot of science programmes on the TV and find them interesting,

After watching Carl Sagan years ago explain how if you left  Earth and travelled at a great speed when you returned time had passed quicker on Earth than it had for you,

I fully understand that,

BUT

Einstein said time and space was one and you could bend it like a fabric and travel not only into the future but into the past as well.

Well I am no Einstein ( ok you do not have to agree ) ;D     I can prove him wrong,

Say I could go back 50 years and I see myself as a young man and accidently kill my younger me,

That could not happen could it ?

Theory proved  8)

Anybody else out there that can prove other experts wrong ?

I find it very strange that so many so called experts (scientists ) say this is possible.

I'm still trying to figure out how we are going to score goals under Slade.

That's more than my brain can handle for now.

I think time travel is more likely.

If it was possible to go back in time,

We could nobble a few players so the team Slade could pick would be a more attacking one. 8)

It would be a bit confusing though Ginny,

You would sit at home reading the paper thinking I am sure I saw us draw 0-0 yesterday,

BUT

Its got us down that we won 2-0.  ;D

By doing this you would create an alternate time line in which the younger you died, and that time line would continue from that point. By travelling back you will have escaped the time line in which you did not die young. You could not return to it however, as that particular temporal reality was effectively destroyed, unless of course the two time lines co exist in parallel, in the so called multiverse.

At this level physics is counter intuitive and so appears to make no sense. For example in quantum theory a particle can be in two places at the same time. Sounds odd and tough to comprehend, but is backed up by sound theory.  Old Albert won his Nobel prize for Quantum theory, so if you don't mind I'll stick with him for now. However, I am willing to bet that you know far more about Grimsby Town then he ever did, so I will continue to enjoy your wisdom in that regard.   :)

The more I learn about the universe the more confused I get,

The latest programme I watched it said we more or less live in a big bubble,

About a million trillion or so miles away the sun protect us from harmful gamma rays ect by forming a gooey mass like a big bubble around our solar system.

I watch as many documentary programmes that I remember to record and always come away thinking that's unbelievable ,

BUT

They are the experts so I take it as read.

Still don't think you can go back in time and change things though.

Final thought,

If you could I would take as much gold as I could with me,

That would make me a multi millionaire in those times and I would buy Grimsby Town FC,

Then all those years in non league would have just been a bad dream for you.  ;D

Problem is Pete the price of gold was much lower in the past, so if you raid your wife's jewellery box and take it back 100 years in relative terms it'd still be worth what your wife's jewellery is worth now.

Yes I got that the wrong way round KM,

I would nip back 50 years buy the gold then come back to today sell the gold then take my investment back so I could buy the club,

There;s  more to this time travelling than you think  ;D

Ha ha! Yes.

Trouble is what are you going to buy it with? They don't accept credit cards in 1890.  ;)

Much better to go back a few weeks knowing the lottery numbers.

Personally I recommend the 'timewave zero' theory of Terence McKenna, more for interest and entertainment than for scientific credibity.

I was not familiar with that theory chaos had to look it up,

Although I found it riveting reading I prefer his " Year in Provence " book  ;D

Ive often wondered how did it all begin Pete.God or chance.I think it was God eg the divine spark that caused the universe to begin.Dawkins as well says in his book the "God delusion" he is not an out and out atheist but leaves some room for the divine albeit minor eg 1%

Its a fascinating subject though .On a clear night when you see the multitudes of stars out there you realise how insignificant we are especially when you take into account the universe is constantly expanding .

I've long been of the understanding that time constantly moves in one direction so travelling back in time would be impossible.  However accelerating and slowing down time is theoretically possible.  Don't ask me how though, that's just what I remember reading/hearing/dreaming etc.

I read Dawkins book a few years back very interesting,

I am a non believer but the more I learn about the universe makes me think someone must have organised all this.

I do believe that time could pass at different speeds depending on were you are in the universe but going backwards in time is just impossible imo

The latest coming out from the wiz kids that make video games is this,

They will soon be able to produce games that the people in the game will think for themselves feel love , pain, emotions and make decisions ect. thinking they themselves are real,

So the scientists are saying " we could all be in a video game  a bit like matrix "

Its so far fetched it is stupid but they say there is one reality but  there could be millions of games acting out a reality,

So the chances are we are one of those games,

Unthinkable ?

If true the game maker in our game is having a laugh.

Here's a philosophical question for you Pete, and feel free to throw in whatever theories on God you care to bring in: in what sense are you playing the game if the characters in it make the decisions for themselves?

Its not my view its the scientists that said it, I have not got a clue about most things  ;D

BUT

I would imagine you would just view the game rather than play it,

We could be all some other planets aliens home work,

Monday morning,

Teacher =   Right out of 10 of you students how many of your Donald Trumps have destroyed the planet earth yet.?

10 students put their hands ( paws ) up,

Teacher=   Which one lasted the longest ?,

Students =  15 months, 18,months were two answers the other 8 all said 2 earth years,

I think I have got too much time on my hands  ;D

Pete, as a pensioner, you are supposed to have time on your hands. You are one of our Elders. You should be thinking deep philosophical thoughts like 'which alien's game resulted in the Earth being destroyed' for all of our benefit.  ;)

Having said that, if you're just watching such a game, aren't you just watching live TV?

Like I said KM its the top scientists coming out with this way out stuff , I know nothing  ;D

BUT

I do enjoy watching the programmes though,

Maybe the aliens that are monitoring us are putting things into the game to see what happens,

Otherwise how the hell did Trump get to be President  ;D
