I understand that the band were brought in to bring some more atmosphere to the game and encourage the crowd but it was just a racket which extinguished any kind of atmosphere.

Had they done the drum beats to 'black and white army' or the 'fish' song or trumpeted to songs for fans to sing to this would help more rather than drown out the little atmosphere us fams are providing at the moment.

With little to cheer about on the pitch we need to provide something to get fans back on side

Does anyone know who brought them in? Is it part of  league iniative?

The band should be band.

My suggestions for making a better atmosphere:

Win some games.
Score some goals.

You miserable so and so.

The band was great - without them what "atmosphere" do you think we would have generated?

Of course you can. It is whether you want to join in or not. Everybody I was with or next to in the pontoon seemed to be enjoying it - especially the kids.

The club can't win really - do nothing and it is like a library and try something and people don't like it. Yes we do get atmosphere when everything is going well and we are scoring goals for fun but we are not - hence the band was a good idea.

Ok then, i will re-phrase. You can manufacture an atmosphere, but it will be just that- manufactured.

A proper spontaneous atmosphere will only come about if there is a buzz about the club and team. You cannot manufacture that and you never will, even with all the drums and trumpets you can muster. The football is lifeless and the crowd reflect that. Even the near full house against Lincoln was tepid.

The band at the Lincoln game would have been a good idea then.

the band was god damned awful, was just a bloody racket from start to finish ,no wonder some fans were getting annoyed and nearly kicked off in that corner,i left with a bloody headache and I was about 10 rows in front of them.

They couldn't provide what was needed to get songs going which after all is pretty basic but they could certainly play their instruments. If for example they'd been playing at half time only I'd have enjoyed it.

The band at Barnet was an actual "band" rather than just a load of drummers.

The band at Barnet sprung out of a spontaneous reaction. It came from the fans. That’s why it was successful. Top down ‘atmosphere ‘ doesn’t work.

If you like that sort of thing you’d be watching American ‘football’.

Ignore Rob. He’s doing his best David Burns impression in order to stir up debate on here.

The real issue should be why we had to endure the drag act at half time. We get it - there are gay and trans people. We don’t need educating on it because they are all over our tellys and papers. It’s normal. Stop forcing inclusion on us. They felt so included they copulated off once they were done ffs!

The other drum/samba outfits that have appeared previously have all received a complimentary round of applause during their half time performances, nothing more than that....the one band that had an actual full on traditional drum kit/ drummer set up on the stairway probably got the biggest cheer/applause out of all to date...but i just dont understand how or  know why/who thought it would be a good idea to slap them in the Ponny during a game ?!?
They either completely drowned out any chanting killing off any attempts from the crowd or just started randomly playing samba beats at weird times.
Maybe the "club" thought cos we had a mariachi band this would be a welcome addition....looks to have gone down universally like a sh!t sandwich.

I also hope they all had to pay for their seats and werent given freebies.

Where do you think furry dressed up mascots come from? Hardened fans may not like imposed entertainment but it draws in new and occasional supporters and it's popular with families. When we eventually move to a new ground hopefully we will attract thousands of new supporters, partly with better facilitiities, partly with more entertainment. We might as well start now in a small way, like we have done with the new scorebaord. You may scoff at all this stuff, but more bums on seats means more money to pay for players.

That's because we've got a ground that was built in the 19th century. Around 4,000 people go to our games. There are over 100,000 local people who don't! The club are making a tiny step towards attracting new blood and it gets slated because it's not traditional!

If I'm in England I expect full on misery at a ground - rain, wind, tepid coffee, shite burgers, rude service, no hot water in the bogs, no toilet paper in the bogs, no toilets in the bogs, freezing my nuts off in winter, someone shouting "now then you old c*nt' from ground level to person in Row J of Ponny, £3 for a snickers, stweards not letting me out Main Stand end cos it might kick off with 83 away fans, John Fenty taking a lap of honour when it's a good news story (eg: Dave Boylen).....

What I don't expect is a band trying to create a  carnival atmosphere - that's for South America, Spain et al

I fecking hated the drummers and it must have been awful sat near them surely??

I thought they were excrement. How the hell are fans supposed to sing any actual Town songs while that lot were banging on. As for the other mob at half time, what the fu(k is that all about? On top of that, isn't Davey Boylen big enough (actually skip that!) and ugly enough to make his own way around the pitch?

I think it was the cymbal I liked just added a bit of colour to it. The half time entertainment was like a sketch from “Little Britain” that went on way too long

Try turning off the sound and switch off after 1 minute once the camera zooms  in on the band and stops filming the ladies at the front.. Makes much better watching  8)

So any chance the fans had of getting some singing going is drowned out by a band that has nothing to do with them? Proof, if it were at all necessary, that the club hasn't got a clue about what the fans want. Six home league gates this season below 4100 isn't going to be put right by a band shipped in to improve the atmosphere. Successful (if not entertaining) football is the key to putting bums on seats. It's bad enough watching Sladeball without the accompaniment of a excrement band and excrement singers at half-time.

What do you know OC? You need to run a football club for fifteen years to know what really sets the fans' pulses racing..
