Have you got the one in 1963 when we won 2-0 Rafferty and Portwood scoring to confirm our promotion,

It might be in black and white  ;D

Thanks Bigdog, pretty sure I was there, and we were still robbed....
Got any similar ones where we won?

Funnily we've just been discussing this and the balance of opinion said that for this game Town hired the League Liner train which for you youngster was BRs idea to try to reduce damage to trains which regularly got trashed. I yhink we also tried to get it for the Coventry cup game in 1973 but were knocked back.  We did have two specials that day tho.

Thanks for sharing Bigdog really appreciate it despite the result we know it all turned out right in the end.

I watch that and wonder where the fcuk did football go wrong? Proper players, proper gates no doubt paying on the day and standing, proper highlights and a bit of punditry at the end.

I am not convinced better foreign importants, Sky TV coverage, athletes as players etc etc ... has improved the spectacle.

That's the year i started watching Town. Wasn't at that game though, so thanks for sharing.

Started going to home games that season too. Was too young to travel, but nearly every adult in the family who went to games went to that Brentford game. I remember it being a big thing for some reason.

My first game was the glamour of Workington at home the previous season,, somehow I got hooked on a bitterly cold day..

Thanks big dog enjoyed that trip down pre birth memory lane seeing some towns supposed legends doing their best in the4th div . Few points I’d like to make though.
1. The football was pretty shite , no change there then in the last 40 years
2. Not a lot of imagination went into the kit . No badge on the shirt even ffs
3. You could happily smoke a pipe on the terrace without a steward giving you grief

Tees probably had his pipe primed for half time.

Wow really enjoyed that proper football before we sold our soul to TV . A forth division game taking prime position over the mighty Leeds and arsenal
Do we have anymore videos would be great to see the Sheffield Utd game when we won the championship

Pre-commercialism. When kits weren't changed every season to flog a bit more over-priced tat to kids. Could be seen as a positive.

That Sheff U game was a great day, we destroyed them with a hat trick from a local lad included. Seem to recall the TV coverage was pretty short compared to what Bigdog posted.

You mean YORKSHIRE TV didn't want to give much publicity to a team from Yorkshire getting stuffed by a team from outside 'God's Own County"?!  ;)

Must have been the smallest squad ever. Not one number above 11 at the start !

Huge crowd that day and no segregation....mucho fisticuffs in the ground between both sets of fans. Horrible trip back to the tube station trying to dodge all the nutters. On getting back to the station we saw a load of GTFC fans standing at the top of the bridge inside as a load of Brentford were coming up the other side at them. Cue madness as Town waded into them, thankfully, and me at the back wading over the bodies just happy to come through unscathed! Totally different world back then following Town away, especially in London where there could be up to a dozen or so different team's mobs raking through the tube system. Think I often came home with brown legged trousers on.

How times have changed. Very little diving, no stewards, back pass to goalies with them picking it up.

It's a fair old way from Griffin Park to the nearest tube station too.

Went to Griffin Park around that time. I had a black and white scarf. There was a large group of skinheads at the back of the covered stand behind the goal, wearing black and white scarfs. So we thought we would stand with them for safety. Turned out they were Fulham fans looking for the Town bootboys!

We were on TV another time that season, which was either on Anglia or Yorkshire (I can't remember which, but I'd guess Anglia given the opponents). It was at home v Cambridge I think. Around Easter. Pitch was really muddy. I ran on at the end and made my TV debut (along with 100s of other teenage urchins).

We won that one 2-1 with a last minute Mike Hickman goal. Attendance was around the 13K mark if memory serves me right. You could change stands back then and many of us moved to the osmond for the 2nd half. Either the day before or the day after we played Reading at home also.

nice to see town get ripped off.....how was Tees's goal didn't stand i have no idea, there was a Brentford player on the line lol.

Still as nice as it is to see footage from the early 70's shame it wasn't a town win  :-/

The other game I remember being on TV during this period was the following season when we played Bournemouth at Home. It was one of the games on MOTD. We drew 1-1. Think they featured it because it was two up and coming managers: McMenemy and John Bond. Think Harry Redknapp played on the right wing for Bournemouth!

That was the game when our goalie ian turner played outfield after injuring his hand during the game.  Clive wiggington went in goal iirc

Most strange decision that, especially as the sub was super Jack Lewis if my memory serves me correctly.

I remember going to Watford in the 1972-3 season and getting the guy who was playing their records over the tannoy to put that on. We did the double over Watford that season - how times change - and the police were throwing out Town fans who jumped up and down on the terracing when each time we scored for causing a public nuisance!

You used to have to walk through an allotment behind Vicarage Road to get to their ground in those days depending on where your coach was parked.

Theres some footage on youtube with the fa cup tie with Arsenal during 82-83.  Town lost 4-3 and Charlie Nicholas scored his only hat trick.  Decent game too.

That game was in January 86 Meza. IIRC there had been a dispute with TV rights and no highlights had been shown for the previous year and that game was the first game shown on Match Of The Day after the dispute had been settled.

A certain Mi*e L*ons played himself upfront that day (and scored I think). That was probably one of the very, few games that I have enjoyed when Town have lost.

That game was also a stand out off the pitch Arsenal bringing arguably the biggest casual mob (Herd/Gooners) of the era to BP .To that point other than Chelsea the London teams never really travelled here with more than a couple of hundred. The talk afterwards wasn`t of the trouble so much the clothes they wore they created quite an impression and put a lot of pound notes into tills of various clothes shops. I was still at school and the older lads within weeks had started wearing the same labels usually after a shopping trip to London or a big City. The lad who fronted them (Denton) went onto do alright as a minder working for the Pet Shop Boys amongst others til he passed away a few years back. The game itself was the biggest seen at BP in the FA Cup for years and probably the biggest since Liverpool away in 1980 .Great game to watch and Gary Lund scored a brilliant strikers goal the Arsenal hatrick hero Charlie Nicholas came to GY years later to the old clee club and told his recollections of the game he wasn`t a fan of Mike Lyons either ;D

That Everton game was the most one-sided game I've ever been to where the team on top lost.

Got absolutely drenched that night too.

Was great on the way back too when the Town coach stopped at Hartshead Moor and the team got mobbed by the fans.

One of the best nights ever following Town that was.
