FA Cup 1st round draw is Monday.

Who would you want?

I'd like to avoid any league clubs. Harrogate play Gainsborough tomorrow so winner of that would be nice. Otherwise Bignots Chester? Boston, Scarborough? (that's if they progress tomorrow)

The best supported team away (revenue) or the lowest ranked team at home (next round) would do me fine   :)

A trip to the seaside to play Scarborough would be good!

Although thinking about it, I'm up in Scotland that weekend so will miss the First Round whoever we draw.

I'm going along to Ross County on 1st Round day to watch Ross v Motherwell (see how Richard Tait is getting on)

A tie that we can win or a tie we can make a load of money off. The same every year until we get to round three and then it’s one of the top six home or away every time. That said I was really disappointed to draw Huddersfield at home in R3 the other year but it turned out to be one of the better, more memorable cup games I’ve seen us play.

Good call.  If it's a home game, because of our limited capacity, it makes no odds if it's Chelsea or Sheff Wed to the gate receipts.

Folkestone, home or away. Knocked the mighty ducks out in the last round. Home would be fine coz they are pretty Shiite, away coz it's a nice little town, good number of decent boozers and a decent little ground. They also have the 'noisy boyz ' ( I kid you not) who are boys, but are definitely not very noisy!

That's why I said get receipts. Knowing the BBC they'd ignore it in favour of an all-Premier League fixture like Stoke v Bournemouth.

Folkestone would be nice. Used to live down there in the mid-80s. There used to be some good boozers as you say - there was one run by what must have been the inspiration for Al Murray's Pub Landlord, right down to the blazer.

As far as the FA Cup is concerned I only have one dream and that is to draw Man Utd away. So my one desire is to get easy draws until both our balls are nestling in the bag and I have memorised both numbers.  I have sat in front of the TV numerous times and prayed to every god I can think of for this eventuality to happen and it never has, even  Man Utd or YYYYYY v XXXXX or Grimsby Town would do me, but I don't think I have even experienced that partial conditional joy. Obviously winning the tournament without playing at OT would be an even greater experience, I have set myself a more modest life goal or just witnessing GTFC run out onto the Old Trafford pitch.

The only way we would get chosen for TV would be if we got drawn against one of the lowest ranked teams left in the competition.

The only way a Grimsby/Shrewsbury game would be shown on TV in the FA Cup would be if it was the semi or the final!

This! I'd prefer away. Folkestone is on the up...honest! It's a town that has a wealthy benefactor (Saga) and is doing a huge amount of work developing its "culture" and it's a case study for Grimsby Councillors and their new grand regeneration project. It has a high speed link to London (I admit Grimsby will struggle to get one of those), the channel tunnel (and one of those) and a lot going for it now. It's been a real dump for a long time but things are changing. Like you say, some good pubs and anywhere with a Martello Tower is worth a trip.

Does the League cup count, because if it does it happened.
And to think we celebrated Phil Jevons day this week, maybe we should celebrate drawn against Man U day a couple of days later, a bit like Good Friday and Easter Monday or Christmas Eve and Boxing Day

There is no such thing as the law of averages! What happened in the past has no influence on the future.

I'd say we have about a 1 in 4 change of beating Plymouth, and maybe a 1 in 4 chance of making in through to Round 3 should we get to Round 2. There are 32 matches in the 3rd round so the chances of drawing Man Utd (home or away) in the third round are 4 x 4 x 32 = 512. 1024 if you specifically want to be at OT. Obviously there is also the chance of making it through the third round and drawing them in the 4th or subsequent rounds. But I'd say it's at least 400/1 that we play Man Utd this year! As for Old Trafford itself that's going to be more like 800/1!
