I doubt even LJL could find a way of missing that

Goodfellows away against Orient nearly on par would have been promoted if he had scored.

no...

Rosenthal, Torres, Llungberg amongst other high profile players who have done similar or worse

Campbell vs Tranmere ultimately that open goal miss consigned us to the league's bargain bin.

Poor lad. He's probably been on suicide watch ever since.

Haha yeah I remember that one, at home to Forest.

I think the Dutch one is probably the worst I've seen though, even beats Rosenthal's!

I think so too. He has no-one anywhere near him and no pressure whatsoever.

Also, his team were 2-0 up at the time and ended up losing 3-2.

Anybody who went to Morecambe away in the fa cup 08/09 season when north hit a two yard out shot over the stand.

i think in defence of the Dutch lad you can see the state of the pitch he was playing on so it no doubt bobbled up.....

all goes back to basics though...eye on the ball, knee over the ball when shooting

Anyone else got Nick Hancock's Football Nightmares DVD? Had it on VHS from years ago - there's loads of open goal howlers in there (including that Rosenthal one).

And that scuffed penalty by Peter Devine.

Oh, here it is!

He's dutch, his technique should be brilliant ;) (or it was a recreation of a Menno Willems free kick)

Murray Jones at Blackpool In the fa cup circa 1992.

Clean header 6 yards out (from what I recall)

Can't remember the specific game but I have a clear memory of Big Keith putting one out for a throw in when clear in front of the Osmond goal about six yards out. Happy happy days.

Paul Crichton after that back pass from Paul Futcher away against Forest back in the day.

My dad has always told me about a hilarious miss by Darren Mansuram. Clean through on goal, 1 on 1, went out for a throw. Apparently it was comical.

Not the worst miss ever as it technically wasn't a miss - I still wonder though how Scott Brown did not score for us against Dover right at the death when he and the ball were on the line

I know the whole of the ball has to cross the line to be counted as a goal but he could more or less have blown it in from where he was but somehow it was scrambled clear

Straight after that they got a penalty which fortunately wasn't converted so it ended all square at 1-1 but that "miss" would surely have won us the game  ::)

I remember a game against Millwall ( 2002 ish?) where Sadler/Sadlier had a tap in at the back post but sliced wide
