I think he missed most of preseason with a combination of injury and having to train on his own, he's probably lacking a bit of fitness especially at Championship level.

I an no expert on these thing but, I assume he didn't ask for a transfer from Wigan so I guess he gets his contract paid up, plus a signing on fee at Cardiff and even possibly a weekly pay rise, also Cardiff are doing quite well at the moment so I would presume he is having to wait until a current striker gets injured or a dip in form.

Yes, he probably serves as back-up for the bench.
Would like it very much if we loaned him back for match fitness...
