If we go behind, we don't win. We haven't done comebacks for years and we are now under severe pressure, brought on by poor decision making.

Looked like a case of "contact in the box" as they say, ah the modern game I suppose.

We've just got nothing go on in the box. We've probably just about been the better side making better chances at least but Hooper isn't good enough and Vernon either involved in creating the chance or just isn't in the box

No doubt encouraged by Evans. They have already had a few penalties this season.

Looked a foul to me but will wait for the slowmo later. Ball really not dropping for us at the moment and we are sat far too deep, no one putting in challenges around the half way line (although their keeper does punt it long). Dembele almost unstoppable with the ball at his feet, Osbourne looks good, all the others  meh!  :-/

Ok mate thanks for that. We are getting worse not better, if I could see sparks of improvement then I wouldn't have made the statement. Can't defend, can't score, don't look like scoring and terrible decision making and discipline.

Another tough game Tuesday and it could quite easily be 5 defeats from 7. Not worried yet but getting a bit twitchy.

Sorry, didn't realise you had access to Grimsby Town's bank statements!  My point is that every time we lose, you 'doom and gloom' merchants jumps on here and demand the manager to be sacked.  We are only 6 games into the season, what happens if we sack Slade, then the next manager does no better after 6 matches, do we sack him then?  It's far too early to be getting rid of the manager, sure we aren't doing well at the moment but we have a lot of time to start getting some more points together.

Wow im worried, how will the club react, I can't see him being sacked still, they'll leave it till we're in deep excrement. Last season yeh we seemed to collapse when the game wasnt going our way, but this season we just sound poor and lacking in quality from start to finish
Posted by: mariner91, September 9, 2017, 2:31pm; Reply: 31
It's not the fact we're losing games. It's the manner of the defeats. No goal threat in the games against Coventry, Stevenage and now Mansfield. Nobody on the pitch who is looking to take the game by the scruff of the neck and most worrying is what seems like an acceptance of defeat along with a complete lack of fight. We've seen what relegations losers look like and this squad has that look all over them.

Scoring goals for fun pre-season..

but

As was predicted, where are the goals going to come from.

We should have used some of the Bogle money to sign a proven goalscorer at this level.
Posted by: ginnywings, September 9, 2017, 2:32pm; Reply: 33
No, we shouldn't get rid of Slade, but should we have appointed him in the first place? 3 managers in one season last year (4 if you count Moore) and already the new one is under pressure. Turnover of players and managers is very worrying, with no apparent improvement.

I hate it when we sack managers I was happy when we had continuity with Hurst and would love nothing more than as to have this again but this is utter rubbish at the minute. I have seen absolutely no improvement under Slade at all we are going backwards. He has got no ideas he will say that the players aren't doing the simple things properly, well that's his fault surely as he should be coaching that out of them on the training pitch. We can't even say we are solid but not scoring we have nothing we are a poor, poor side.

No I haven't got access to the accounts but just look at the size of the squad we have now and we have been signing players from higher divisions who will be on higher wages than those from lower divisions and the backroom staff has got larger and I don't think they do it for free so put all those things together and it suggests that we have spent a fair amount of money.

Yet another dreadful Fenty appointment.

Reminds me of AB3.

Both Slade and Wilkinson are on downward spirals career wise.

Slade should never have been reappointed but he's a mate of Fenty's and he's just gone out and brought him in with what appears little, if any, discussion with any other board members.

Although i don't disagree with the sentiment, he hasn't had 6 matches has he? He had enough to assess the squad at the end of last season and decided to rip it apart, bring in new faces (yet again) and here we are, looking no better. The only saving grace so far is that we have time to sort it, but if you get in a a rut as a team, you can find yourself cast adrift and playing catch up, which brings it's own pressure.

As i've said, not overly worried yet but the pressure rises with every defeat and i imagine we will not get much change from Accrington. The fact that we have lost heavily to Mansfield, who we normally beat, and are not expected to get owt from Stanley, says it all really.

Macca conceded 2 pennos he went the right way for best a keeper can do really. He conceded one after he made a fantastic save for but no one cleared and they scored on the rebound, only one I could complain about with the 2nd from the corner middle of 6 yard box he should be at least punching that clear if not catching it

Its not the player who hits the hoofball that is wrong,

Its the other players for not being in the right position.

Then again by the sound of things we do not have the players that can read a game,

For all the experience in our defence they are very poor,

No proven striker in the squad and a midfield that is bypassed most of the time,

Too early to call for Slade to go,

BUT

Russell you must do better this is not good enough,

I wish somebody anybody would come in and buy the club so Fenty can feck off.

Those accusing the negative types of appearing from nowhere and jumping onto a defeat with negagtive posts should take a look at the GET's report and the live feed summary. Perfectly described from someone there to see this latest debacle..

Town were gutless at times and lacks any real fight or quality. Poor passing and final balls meant they didn’t look threatening going forward. Mirfin and Pearce had the Town forwards in their pocket until late on. Town conceded two cheap penalties after dangling legs into challenges that gave the referee a decision to make. Poor marking saw two other goals scored by unmarked players.

Town were poor from start to finish.

Never mind this stuff about we're only X amount of games in, this was another unforgiveably sh*t performance.

Interesting to see that that season we lost 5 of first 6 games and form picked up at end of season pattern developing here ,we are perpetual poor starters.

That's depressing so we started the relegation season with the same sequence 6 defeats and 2 wins.

Sadly he is not going anywhere until he gets all the money from the new houses being built with the new ground.

Unfortunately that is almost certainly true. Long freakin' wait to get rid then and by that time will it be too late?  :o

Before we get ourselves in a frenzy of despondency, its worth pointing out that we have played 5 of the top 10 form teams (not necessarily the best teams, but definitely the form teams). The one team we played who is in the bottom 14 we beat.

Unfortunately, the next team we play are second, so don't hold your breath for anything other than a defeat. I hope I am wrong. We then play Newport who are top half-Paddy Amond is bound to score the winner!

Part of the reason they are in the top ten though is because they have played us!  I don't think we have had that hard a start and we have had more home than away.  I don't think there is any prospect of us not having one eye over our shoulders even if we aren't in the bottom two at the moment.
