Today's article in the telegraph about who will replace Vernon, has some snippets from Rus which suggests that we have a smallish squad. Wilko also said that we would take more players in his interview last week.

I thought 27 players is a large squad, even with 4 youngsters that leaves 23 senior players,  so where are we too many, too few or just right, and how do we compare with other squad sizes for this level (I don't think there is a quick way to look that up)?

The GET have done an article on replacing a player that didn't even play in the last match?

GET appear to be playing lip service to grimsby town .    It's pretty boring mundane stuff

Agree. Who wants a weekly Q&A with a local tabloid journalist??

MIDFIELD !! Although due to injuries/suspensions/ compassionate reasons we are seemingly light in there now ( however thats what the loan market could have been used for in an emergency ) we still started the season with too many...Clifton, Summerfield, Jones, Berrett, Rose, Osbourne, McAllister, Clements....(Confused).....think i caught them all there...8 central midfielders....such a drain on wages and squad numbers.

Liam wood at the telegraph reckons it is unlikely we will sign another full back, if we don't that would leave us incredibly light in full backs, 3 full backs to cover 2 spaces seems very very risky, better hope that none of our full backs (Dixon especially) sustains a lengthy injury or a lengthy ban because it could be a long time to wait until the transfer window opens again.

what's the youth left back like?

We always have 3 full backs don't we? (I'm not counting Dan Jones!)

Pretty sure we had squad numbers into the 30's the last time we were in the league.

Our squad seems to be big enough now. We have made a lot of changes in a relatively short space of time, we need cover at left back, I like the look of that Rollins chap (ex Boston) who has been trialling but realisitically, with the signing of Hooper, with Cardwell and Vernon (not counting Sam Jones who I see as a number 10), we have enough forwards.

Last week, I witness our full backs bypassing the midfield with long punts to a lone centre forward battling three strapping centre backs. I don't want to see that again RS, It's more about our style now than signing even more players. I'm fine with mixing it up, but I'd like to hear RS explain what he was hoping to get out of that nonsense - the players were instructed.

Maybe under Newell, Buckleys squads were always pretty small.
