6 years ago today, not the best of days. It was my 7th (and last) operation on my brain tumour, Town lost 5-0 at Braintree (I thought I was still hallucinating when I heard that) and then I heard that illegitimate cancer had claimed the life of a marvelous young man Matty Dawson after a brave fight. RIP Matty. Still remembered mate xx

Well done Les,

Being at Braintree that night was when it really hit me how low we'd fell.
Before the game, looking at the ground and the portaloo away toilets, I thought to myself if we can't beat this lot we may as well pack in!
3-0 down at half time, I thought surely we must improve 2nd half?..., but we didn't  :-/

When we have an off day in League 2 we need to remember, it could be far worse!

Didn't realise it is also the 40th anniversary of Elvis' death.

Well done Les.

I can remember Lincolns first game at Braintree.
We were humiliated live on TV !!
2 turnstiles to get in and no segregation but at least it was easy to let the directors know how you felt as they were in amongst us in the main stand.

Myself and the old man went down to braintree, it was my 16th birthday present. Stayed over in the town as well, the anger and disbelief amongst us all that night was like something ive never seen

At least our game wasn't live on TV.

I'd had my head sawed open that day and I still don't think I suffered the amount of pain that I would have done had I been there that evening.  :)

It was actually 2-0 Lee

Not being pedantic but I remember it because Glenn Cockerill was summarising with JT

He was being asked about how the first half had gone and how we should play the second half....

It was just coming up to the 45 minutes on the clock, with the score 0-0

His comments were something along the lines of "just keep on doing what we're doing and we should go on to win"

Then bam, bam... in the space of a minute we were two down before the half time whistle came

They then scored early in the second half and after that we apparently just surrendered

If only the team that night had had Les' and Matty's fighting spirit eh?

Anyway here's to many more years of you following the Town through thick and thin Les.... and Matty. RIP  :B

The one bright spot was the gallows humour. "Beaten by the plumber, we're getting beaten by the plumber, beaten by the butcher, we're getting beaten by the butcher..."

It didnt. It just ended a hoodoo. There was nothing great about that day imo. Without that idiot defender of theres pulling back Gowling, we'd have never won the game
