Do we think we're done in the transfer market now? Is Slade still keen on Jack Bridge? Noticed he was on the bench for Southend last night. What else do we need? A versatile defender? We don't appear to have our token Glen Downey/Terry Barwick yet.

No we are nowhere done in the transfer market,

We have 12 midfielders to ship out. ;)

Do we have a number 9 now then?

Probably an unpopular view but considering the unbalanced squad RS inherited, he's done a pretty good job of bringing in some decent players and getting some balance into the squad.  When everyone is fit and firing it looks much better than a year ago.

I'm sure I read that JJ Hooper had been given the number 9

Thanks, just found it on the club website.

You would of thought that yes we are done now. You could argue we don't have cover for Dixon but then again Davies could play that position if required.

I think right now we have a good set of players and an even better set of players when everyone is fit

I think we are a versatile Carl Magnay type defender short, someone who can cover all bases if necessary. I know they are a bit hard to come by and if we are where we are on September 1st then I'd still be happy but I just think that would finish us off.

We have a promotion winning side now,

So no more players needed.  8)

You have to give Slade his dues. He has slowly drip fed the signings in a calm and collected manner when many around have been a bit apprehensive.

Of course the team is unproven and I'm sure some key first targets have slipped through the net...

But... I feel confident we have a much more balanced squad.

Who knows what is to come

We have the numbers....i work out a 1st team squad of 27 including a couple of youngsters.

GK 1 McKeown  30 Killip
D    12 Mills   2 Davies  5 Clarke  6 Collins 14 K Osborne 24 Keeble 3 Dixon
M    7 Berrett  4 McAllister 8  M Rose  16 J Osborne  22 Clements  19 Summerfield  15 Clifton  26 Sawyer
W    27 Dembele  20 Jaiyesimi  11 Kelly  18 Bolarinwa
F     9 Hooper 10 Jones 21 Vernon 23 Asante 17 Cardwell  25 A Rose

Unless someone leaves i doubt we will bring anyone else in....certainly not a permanent signing. We have a few injuries at present like McAllister, Asante and Jamie Osborne and Clements just coming back. i thought we looked a bit short in midfield ironically at Chesterfield. Berrett starting and Summerfield coming on. Probably wouldn't have envisioned that a couple of weeks ago. Whether we get a loanee at some point again probably depends on if anyone goes,

I like what RS has done so far. He may not have gone for 'names' but has certainly added some youthfulness and athleticism to the team. Dembele had a cracking debut and looks like he will add a new dimension to our attacking play. Jaiyesimi and Kelly may do the same.

First impressions are we look to have more of an attacking threat. That combined with an experienced defence offers some optimism for the season. Let's build on that great start at Chesterfield starting with Coventry on Saturday.

27 players forsure we are done, that's a giant squad for this level.

Is anyone else excited about DJ? Just listened to he interview on humberside with his manager from Dulwich and it sounds like the lad must have something for premier league teams to have been interested. Describes him as a powerful runner so that combined with the freedom that youth often allows could make him a very effective player to bring on. By which time the opposition will have twisted blood from trying to get near Dembele. Exciting times ahead.

I wonder if any of the midfielders/wingers can cover at full-back? With only three specialists in these positions on the books it seems likely that we'll encounter occasions this season where two of them aren't available for one reason or another. Wouldn't have thought that any of the central defenders are suited to covering (Keeble aside, perhaps?) so hopefully someone else (or some others) are capable of doing so.

I would expect to see a left footed defender sign to cover either left back or across the defence.

If someone exceptional becomes available I am sure we will try sign them but I certainly expect to see some movement out in midfield.

Am I right in thinking Kelly has left back experience? Might be wrong but I'm sure I read it somewhere

Has Max Wright been let go or is he still trying for a contract?

I think this year we look to have goals across the team, I do question wether we have a proven goal scorer up too though but that remains to be seen.

Max Wright is now on loan with us at Scarborough. He made his debut for us today and was very impressive, scoring once and generally being a real handful for their left back all afternoon. Thank you Russell  ;)

Centre half needed. Clarke isn't up to it and Collins deserves to miss a few games on top of his suspension after today. We need another centre midfielder and striker.

All of the above plus a left back. Either get your wallet out Fenty or it'll cost you a lot more in the long run.

Just read the last post on the first page of this thread, and what a contrast it is to later posts.

Just a new centre half, left back, midfielder and striker. Not too much!
