Club have annouched that the Boston Lincs Cup game will be a 'youthful' team as the first team won't be getting back from Devon until late Friday night.

Might make a few peoples minds up on whether there attending

That's a shame, I wanted to see some of the new players, I'll still be going though, see you all there.

Resting players and playing a youth side for a cup game!? Wait until Shaun Harvey finds out that we are risking the future of the England first team for the sake of a trip to Devon! 😂

I watched a youthful team beat Brigg last night and it was a thoroughly entertaining game, I'll be at Boston saturday supporting the lads that are representing GTFC.  UTM.

And people whinge about other clubs fielding weakened sides in other cup competitions.
Some might say "That's different" but I don't see it that way.

Seems like a guaranteed way of ensuring we don't reach the final (yet another meaningless fixture!)....I assume Lincoln and Scunthorpe took a similar decision by fielding junior teams at Gainsborough and BP, respectively. This competition is long past it's sell-by date IMO.

Anyone any idea on the other semi finalists? The Lincs FA Website doesn't seem to have upto date results!

Gainsborough are one, our kids played them and lost 4-0 Saturday whilst the first team were out in Portugal. Don't know the other team involved.

Gainsborough play Grantham in the other semi-final, so although it probably won't be us if we're sending the kids to Boston, at least there will be a GTFC in the final. :-)

No, I think the costs were all met by sponsors.  There's seems to have been a hell of a lot of clubs doing similar and training in Portugal too.

You would not have posted re this if your lads had gone to Rhyl or something similar.

Seems like a dose of smug tablets where being given out free with Gimps season tickets this year.

As I said, the team went to Portugal paid by the sponsors. I wasn't responding to sound smug, haven't gone on about ST sales, signings or anything else. I just like to post about crap that's spouted about my club. We have done the army camp stuff the Rhyls, Devon and similar stuff many times, no doubt we will probably be doing something like that next year when I will hopefully still be around.

Matt Rhead is looking lean and fit actually. Scorer of 38 in about 90 appearances for us and god knows how many assists so not bad for a not fat donkey.

Your on here just like the other Lincolnshire club who had a run of good fortune and will disappear just as quick when the bubble bursts. You have every right to be gloating with over 5,000 season ticket holders, that will drop to your usual 1700 when the bubble bursts, enjoy it while you can.

I see you haven't denied that Lincoln has the ugliest fans, so ugly in fact that one of your fans got a sex change to get some action, I'm sorry Ms Jackson, wahooooo.

Why shouldn't he be, there's no rules that he's breaking as far as I'm aware.
Obviously you're annoyed by an internet forum-may be best to log off for a while. ;)

Shame we didn't put the penalty away first half to take the lead, maybe we could've made a game of it.

Men against young men today
We did better in phases of the first half but petered out as the game progressed
Keeble ( I think) did well and we kept going till the end
Some of the Boston players seemed to be taking it way to seriously IMO

It was clear that it was men against boys but we did give a good account of ourselves. Number 12 for Boston looks one worth keeping an eye on though.

Good experience for the up and coming players and underlines how average the senior non league pyramid is.

Thought the academy lads acquitted themselves very well, particularly in the first half when they were much the better side. There are some there with blistering pace and they obviously tired second half in really testing conditions-a tempest blew through in the last half hour! Three Boston players were cautioned and they and some others came across as 'snarling lumps' in contrast to the silky skills of some of the town players. Given a year or two, we may have some real gems emerging.

Tbf a small club like Boston this is their only hope of cup success so they had to do everything possible to win and that included grown men hacking and kicking at boys who's just left school
