The powers that be in the NHS for creating the I.T. environment where seemingly basic malware can cause so much damage. This shouldn't detract from the fact that people who are prepared to risk human life in the pursuit of crime are scum and twits of the millenium.

Totally agree with this, the actual fix was out there, however, the IT departments had not implemented them.

Also the NHS were still using Windows XP in numerous trusts that isn't supported anymore by Microsoft. This is down to the Conservative government not giving sufficient funding to upgrade the systems, which would cost millions. I read for one-year extended support from Microsoft for Windows XP cost the NHS 5.5 million. So for two-years they have been running XP machines with no security updates. Multimillion fleet of perfectly good cardiographs or ultrasound scanners from 2012 wouldn't get drivers to work on Windows 8 or Windows 10 because it was unsustainable for developers to maintain such wide span of OSes. Windows 8 will stop updating next year.

8 December 2016 - 90 per cent of the UK's NHS is STILL relying on Windows XP >> https://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/12/08/windows_xp_nhs_still/?mt=1494614070144

Microsoft has given the patch now, but I guess you could have always registry hacked Windows XP to force the patch through in the first place, this fools Windows XP into thinking it's Embedded, which is still supported until 2019. ;)

This was a week before the Ransomware struck.  ;D

DONALD TRUMP.

When you get 'codeword' secret intelligence from your own allies there is a reason why you do not share it.
The people who gleaned that intelligence are now in great danger just so that girl private (far upgraded from tw@t) could get some brownie points from his Russian Buddy's. He doesn't think he has done anything wrong  His arrogance could not only possibly cost lives, but who in their right mind would share any intel with that big mouth TW@T.
