Grimsby Town director John Fenty has a special message for the departing Josh Gowling at Craig Disley.
The pair will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of June.

"I would like to go on record to express my wholehearted gratitude to Craig Disley and Josh Gowling.

"Sadly good things have to come to an end, but we still have those memories of them being instrumental in several play-offs and especially that special day. when we sealed a place back in the Football League.

"Josh has been simply Mr. dependable since he has been with us and we will be sorry to lose such a massive figure, not forgetting his special performance in last season's play-off final.

"Captain Disley will always hold a special place in my heart, a man who never shirked, a man for the big occasion, often chipping in with vital goals in vital games. He has been a model professional and has been great to work with.

"The club will be arranging a special benefit (testimonial) game for Craig in due course, an opportunity for good many like-minded fans to have the opportunity express their respect for a true Town legend.

"I'm sure everyone will join me in wishing both Josh and Craig all the very best for the future."

Brizzle would feel quite apt! But a bigger team from close by would boost the gate receipts.

He was at Bristol R, Mansfield and Shrewsbury

Return for Hurst? Has been a massive part in Disleys career. Maybe Paul Trollope as well as he was his gaffer for most of the time at Gas.

Well deserved and well done Town. Hope he gets a good club to draw the crowd in. Maybe we could get New York City over so Andrea can meet the ginger Pirlo.

It will be a different testimonial wont it....he's not retiring.....who cares it gives me one last chance to thank Dizza personally when i get his autograph  (something i use to do regularly when i was 18 in the lower findus) for my son (i mean me lol)

Trouble with Bristol would be the lack of away supporters. So it would be a bit pointless.
Unless you could get a 'team mate XI' made up of ex teammates from Bristol, Mansfield, and Shrewsbury.
Imagine Evans and Hurst in the away dug out. The Mainstand would surely sell out !!

A great gesture from John Fenty one which will cheer Dis up no end and proper recognition for the monumental effort Craig put in to get us back into the league.

Does this suggest that SP is getting a new deal?
Posted by: Meza, May 9, 2017, 9:27pm; Reply: 26
Yep i think SP has been offered a new deal probably Collins and Andrew.  But i also think some have been made available hence why they have not tweeted and will all come out tomorrow.

An All Star Ginger XI captained by Diz managed by Gordon Strachan including Scholes, Butt, Kevin De Bruyn, Kahn, Sammer, etc would be a sight to behold at BP..

Lovely touch by the club.

Nothing Compares 2 Craig Disley!

All them legends and you mention Sidwell!?

Who was that Prince Harry lookalike we had on loan? Matt Harrold?

He is still well thought of at mansfield and they might bring a few. He got his league break there.

Evans might even manage to see out the 90 mins without getting sent off.
