No place on the bench for Yussuf despite him being contracted next season. Injured or has RS seen enough to want to pay him off and get rid?

Absolutely no width or pace at all.

Disley starting but not captain? Perhaps showing Slade wants Collins here next season as club captain

I'm surprised that Yussuf hasn't played more as he's always done OK when I've seen him play. Wonder if he perhaps hasn't settled and wants out?

Not as many changes as i expected. Seems some are just not getting a chance at all and that may speak volumes. Or maybe Slade wants to beat his old club?

I'd be surprised to see Gowling get a chance to be honest. Whilst he's been magnificent for us whilst here, he's looked dodgy when he's played this season. Coupled with the fact he hasn't played in the FL for 7 years (apart from a few games this season) and is 34 this year, I'd be very surprised if RS sees him as an option. Sad and we thank him for all he's done for us but I think it's time he moved on.

Yussuf, Asante, McAllister not getting a look in either, unless they are injured? All contracted for next season too.

Also 3 loan players on bench.

I think Asante is injured or at least not match fit. Yussuf and McAllister I have no idea about though.

Marcus said that McAllister just didn't have the match fitness to play a game just before he was sacked.

Maybe his priorities are those whose contracts expire shortly. I doubt we have a chance of taking loan players on permanents other than Vose and he doesn't seem a Slade player to me.

Really disappointed to see Yussef omitted from the squad, I think Asante is injured and I can understand McAllister not yet being ready but surely  Yussef deserves a chance.

Maybe that RS has already decided to keep him. But is still assessing others ? !!

Possibly but I imagine he's seen enough of Jones and Osborne to want to keep them aswell and thier starting, so I don't think it's that.

Possible he's seen enough of him in training to know that he doesn't want him, but again surely he's not quite that bad!

Posted by: Maringer, April 22, 2017, 4:00pm; Reply: 24
Good goals, both of them and we've played plenty of good football this half with some good passing - required as we've got absolutely no pace in the attackers. Osborne probably the quickest of them.

A very open midfield where we're getting loads of space and using it quite well. Yeovil certainly one of the poorest teams I've seen here this season. Nobody having a poor game and it is pretty entertaining.

As good a 45 I've seen for a long while.
Faster moving the ball forward with Diz knocking it about.

Whatever the final result, I bet Russ won't be best pleased with them conceding straight after half time.

3 more points from somewhere this season and we'd have still been in with a shout , Bignots giving up after christmas cost us big time

A catalogue of goalkeeping and defensive balls ups are more to blame. The squad won't need major surgery this summer to really threaten the top seven next year but certainly a few new faces

That was because no ficker knew what they were suppose to be doing the strange wing back system constantly exposed us to wing attacks.

The reason we will miss out is that MB tried far too much too soon and came in wanting to dominate what was a stable side and club. He alienated many players and also set the team up to fail on a number of occasions with odd selections, game plans and shape.

Funny how the same players can look like world beaters under new management, I never thought we would lose today, we looked more organised all over the pitch and each player looked like they knew their job and were happy to do it, just three matches too late.

Agree there Garth we looked quite slick at times and well balanced the win was never in doubt now not many times have I felt that way this season.
Posted by: Maringer, April 22, 2017, 9:50pm; Reply: 58
We played well today (hopefully good signs for the future), but I think we'll not play many teams as open to attack as Yeovil next season.

Still, you've got to put them to bed. Some much better passing today including no end of excellent (and accurate) cross-field passes.

The biggest cause of lost points this season has been our inability to stop conceding free kicks. That all started under Bignot. The Donny, Pompey, Crawley and Accrington games have been ones where we should have got more points but our inability to stop them has cost us. We were dire at Crewe and Stevenage anyway so I don't think those cost us any points realistically.

Do me a favour we've been suffering from that for years against part-time teams.

We have conceded from them for a few seasons now mate, sometimes down to poor refereeing and sometimes poor defending often from poor goal keeping with Macca standing the wrong side of a wall.
