3-5-2 it is then with Andrew and Mills as WB.

Jones, Boyce and Gunning at CB.

Only worrying thing for me is the lack of pace but hopefully it won't matter UTM!

We are down to a very good side but we are playing some good stuff and giving it 100%
Best 45 of football I've seen here for ages.
Come on Town you can win this one UTM

Didn't really deserve to be in front, but what a smashing goal. Completely crumbled defensively after going in front. It's so frustrating to see Pearson and Collins on the bench when we are playing top of the league.

So what have we seen good goal, really good by Jones but poor defending for both theirs. Lads are having a go but on reality there is a gulf in class. Poor decision to leave warriors like Shaun & Collins out IMHO.

If we keep the attitude and work rate going we can come back. Oh and we need to change the near post corner routine as it's bollox

Best we've been under Bignot, according to Buckley.

Sam Jones is proving to be a hell of a signing!
Posted by: Maringer, April 1, 2017, 2:04pm; Reply: 29
Jerry-built midfield today and it shows in the performance. Comley has literally no idea what he should be doing on the wing. The midfield as a whole is offering little protection to the defence. Good goal from Jones, terrible defending for both of theirs.

Donny playing much better than on their patch, however.

The team he's picked especially the defence tells me its more about the players futures.

Posted by: jonnyboy82, April 1, 2017, 2:37pm; Reply: 34
No real sense of what Marcus wants to do , the team is lop sided with no idea of what really is going on and I don't think the players know what they are meant to do .

Concerned really for me going forward now as the honeymoon is almost certainly over, he sets his team's up with players out of position and it's quite worrying.

The only players coming out of any credit today is Sam Jones and Danny Andrew.

If you thought Hurst liked a centre midfielder out wide he ain't got a patch on this guy.

These heavy defeats are getting embarrassing now .

Also when playing at home in front of a bumper crowd you think you would pick your strongest team to impress the undecided so they come again! But fuk nose!

Oh dear Mr. Bignot, I do believe you've got some explaining to do.
Possibly start with your players so they know what they're doing.
Oh, and look up the meaning of "balance"  sometime as well. It might help.  :o

I haven't been today, but seems a strange decision to play an experimental side against a free scoring top of the table team, so the danger would be that you're in for a good hiding and would be none the wiser....pointless exercise today

Not had a season in charge yet to implement his ideas so I give Bignot the benefit of the doubt on this poor performance. Even Alex Ferguson had the occasional blips from time to time eg heavy defeats ?

Absolutely minging. Play a weakened team against top of the league and that's what you get. He's just used the rest of this season as an experiment and that's not good enough.

putting defender jones in midfield is a joke, putting comley wide is a joke, leaving your best 2 defenders on the bench is a joke...No need for messing about as he should know by now who he he wants next year....having said that he has my support as he is building for next season, hope it works out but big defeats are no good for anyone....is he another manager with a stubborn streak in him?

To be fair though to Bignott does take time to change things though .Success in anything doesnt happen overnight

Rick12 I'll have a pint of what you've had. Bignot is making a massive rod for his own back. You say you like his passion do you mean patter?

Hurst had many faults but would possibly have picked a team to avoid defeat at least today. Bignot is playing Champ Manager with supporters ticket money.

Listen to how Bignott usually comes across in interviews? more passion for me  .I agree you cant win it on passion alone but its a big factor in football be it manager or player.

Even the most critical of Hurst would surely love the consistency and defensive solidity we had under him back after today - even if he isn't as "passionate" (FFS!) as Biggy Bullshit.

I'm not defending the defenders out there today.. but Pearson and Collins were the pairing that played in the 5-0 and 4-0 hammerings away to Crewe and Portsmouth and the 3-0 defeat at home to Exeter.

There are fundamental problems at the club that lay deeper than team selection at the minute..

Passion means b*****r all. A philosophy is what you need more than anything. And a good eye for a player and plenty of tactical nous. Passion is a thing that some people possess more than others but it is in no way a barometer as to how good a person is at their job.

Well if he is using "passion" in his half time team talks its not working is it? We have been absolutely shocking in the majority of second halves kicking towards the pontoon. I think the players spend the first 20 mins of the second half trying to remember what position/formation/instructions they are to follow. These are 4th division players. Keep it simple, passion or no passion!

Fair point I agree. You do need other things beside passion eg Conte from what I have loosely gathered  and Alex Ferguson as prime examples eg both have passion and nous for the game
