I see Donny have sold out their full 1900 allocation for the early kick off on 1st April.

Shame we aren't really in with a shout of the play offs in the mind of th emanager as it could have been a big home following too

Home game against a team from Yorkshire, it'll be Stone Island everywhere. Looking at our inconsistent performances I think we could be in for a long afternoon.

Should be a fun morning and mid afternoon around Cleethorpes then........

i assume of course the police will resume their highly effective tactics of letting away supporters go were they like and leave the ground early or at the same time as the home support to allow all to mingle and shake hands post match....

Well as one of the four thousand that went to Donny if it goes off as smoothly as that I don't see no probs  there will always be a few idiots but I talked with Donny fans after the game and they seemed a decent bunch.

It'll be the biggest home gate of the season, surpassing the 6,560 we got against Portsmouth in December.

If results go the right way for them tonight and this Saturday then Doncaster COULD clinch promotion on April 1st.
No fooling!

Up to us to be the party spoilers then.

They are almost certain to gain promotion but lets hope it's not on our watch.

We were unlucky not to get at least a draw at Keep moat they did not seem that much better than us apart from one excellent free kick.

We didn't get near their goal so we weren't that unlucky.

Vernon had a great chance in the first half and then we had that trick free kick too,  so not quite true that we didn't get close to their goal Abdul

That's true, I'd forgotten about that Vernon chance. My main memory is Jackson fannying out of a couple of tackles, Berrett starting and Dan Jones getting 5 minutes!

Colins missed a free header also

It was a weird game where not much at all seemed to happen and the atmosphere was surprisingly muted.

Based on the performance that day, I'm still amazed that Donny have romped away to promotion, as they really didn't look like anything at all.

They scored right early on through a wonder free kick that De Gea wouldn't have stopped! It then proceeded to be a terrible, terrible spectacle. Apart from Vernon sperning a chance with an open goal and Summerfield's ridiculous free kick, nothing else happened, except Summerfield was about an inch of getting on the end of a cross in the 93rd minute. It really was a dire game. The atmosphere had been dampened previously by the fact that at about 2pm, we realised Omar wasn't in the side and we knew we'd be awful going forward, which we were.

Went with to this with a Leeds supporting mate, and we both agreed it was a weird game, were we couldn't play football, and really should have at least drawer. If you watch the highlights, we had the chances to win.

It was about that time I realised Berrett was playing ;)

Thankfully, after losing at home to Plymouth today, this is not now possible.

I think they still can, as they are 16pts clear of 4th, and 18pts clear of 5th, 6th, so if results go right for them next week, they ll clinch promotion. We need to spoil their party...lol

I was in Doncaster the other day and all the talk in the pub was it's going to be a promotion day party in Cleethorpes................Hmmm...we'll have to see about that.

Given that there are 3k season ticket holders and 1,900 donny fans coming. I think 6k would be the very minimum.

Are the trains going to be dry ones on Saturday then or is it just Town fans being singled out again?

Dont think many will be travelling by train Les, ...we are at home  ;)

Have Donny fans got our reputation? That is the key question on that one.  I think they will show up though given that we pretty much had the run of Doncaster when we played them so for them they might feel the need to save face.

I would like to think that the police will do the following though;

Dry trains in
Dry trains out
Coral any risk element they bring on the train and head them straight along the sea wall into the Osmond Stand.
Cleethorpes pubs doors shut til 1300....or at least door supervised.
Hold them back after the game for 15 mins
March them down the sea wall back to the station after.

Luckily for them the tide is on the turn from 9:45 a.m so not much chance of getting a dunking  ;D

So basically we can expect.

Trains with a bargain booze kiosk onboard.
Wetherspoons happy hour 11 - 12
Town fans being arrested for leaving their house.
Donny fans given the freedom of the city.
Donny fans being let out 15 minutes early (like Mandfield) to get organised.
Town fans living in Cleethorpes having to go home via Louth, whilst the police look for the two hundred Donny fans that managed to give them the slip in the mile between BP and Cleethorpes station.

Pretty much spot on,it's like Groundhog Day in Cleethorpes with the keystone cops thrown in whenever  a decent following show up.

Just booked my ticket for Saturday. Have to leave home at 6.30am, because of the early kick.off. Still, I should be home by 9.00pm. Hope I don't jinx the result. Doncaster on paper should be too good for Town but they didn't seem that special when we played at Doncaster. Hopefully a good result, especially with Doncaster looking over their shoulders at Plymouth in pursuit of the Title.

I can only really recall trouble at home to Donny once years ago when we played them in the FA Cup and the warring factions kicked off outside what was the Vic and Dolphin when a coachload or two of their lot turned up.They were never renowned for travelling but they used to be a handful at home and clashed with travelling Town fans through the 80s early 90s when we were changing trains at Donny.I think if the jungle drums are correct and large numbers of ticketless Donny turn up in CLPS they may well get a nasty surprise from a much larger than usual turnout of home supporters.Still im sure supporters of both Clubs will feel perfectly safe in the knowledge Humberside OB have got things all under control :-/

Forgive me my ignorance, but don't "supporters" support their team as opposed to dishing out nasty surprises willy nilly?

Indeed they do Jock. Not sure how often you have attended BP this Season I know you are Scotland based? However home supporters have a pretty poor choice of watering holes these days in and around BP meaning most will head to CLPS.A much larger home turnout coupled with the largest away following of the Season drinking in and around CLPS would suggest to me trouble is highly likely because large numbers of opposing fans wont want to mix. Please note I am not a FIO or Police Super so my obvious lack of knowledge on a potential flare up is probably best ignored ala the Sheff Utd friendly when numerous posters predicted what would happen weeks before the game.Trouble will occur and the Local Plod`s recent record on policing these sort of games is not very good at all for 6 years they only had one fixture to worry about and that lack of experience shows.

So we can expect the GrimTel to be full of comments from NIMBYs afterwards.

Central Cleethorpes residents ought to be marching on the Town Hall to DEMAND that the stadium be built at PP! ;)

I moved north in 1992 Micky, so am well aware of trouble spots in Meggies, having lived just around the corner from Isaac's Hill. I nearly got caught up in nasty crossfire when Leeds came on the Bank Holiday and decided to try and do a Beirut on our town. I know we had a number of squabbles in the first two seasons of the Conference, but that it had largely died down since then. As a teenager I well remember the wholesale trouble down the Station Approach and the promenade itself during the mid 60s when the annual skirmishes took place between the mods and rockers. It's something that has gone on since time immemorial in Cleethorpes, especially with like minded folk from Yorkshire.

What does disappoint me though is seeing the club associated with this by saying they are GTFC supporters. They're not, they're thugs who are just aping their forefathers. Football allegiance doesn't come into it.

No matter how wrong it may be I have to disagree with this, it's got everything to do with football allegiances and the town or part of the country you are from.
Much the same as the battles between Mods / Rockers / Punks / Skins and their allegiances.

You got a mobile time machine as well Les  ?  ;D :P

Anyway:  Much preferred trying to listen to some blokes portable radio in the middle of the packed Ponny. Rumours going round that 'so and so' were 1-0 down. The buzz going around the ground as the word spread. Then a big cheer when it's all confirmed.  The great cheers as we got our result, the. 5 mins of muted celebration while we waited for other results. 200 people telling me to sshhhhhh coz were all huddled round one bloke and his crackling transistor radio. The the singing and dancing when we knew. We really fking knew.

Jumpers for goalposts. 😃🤔🤔🤔🤔
