I know there are still 9 games to go, but the season has pretty much finished in terms of a competitive competition, so who would people like to be retained?

I'd go

New deals to:
Pearson
Andrew
Collins
Gunning (maybe)
Venney
Clifton
Wright

Release:
Davies
Gowling
Dan Jones
Dis (with a heavy heart)
Chambers

Return to clubs:
Comley
Dyson
Maxwell

Try and sign:
Vose

Try to ship out:
Summerfield
Berrett
Boyce

Think Bignot is keen to hang on to Dan Jones from what he's being saying in the press...

So you would keep Vernon then ?

Vernon has another year in any case, I believe?

I hope Dis' heavy heart allows him to play a part in the Plymouth game ;)

Too early for a retained list but I just know Comley and Henderson will spend next season on loan at Scunny or us Shrews.

Dyson is still raw so we may get a chance to develop him

If Dyson was our player he would be out on loan with Harry Clifton and Josh Venney, because thats his level at this moment, however since he belongs to Everton its irrelevant.
I am hoping that next season we will be signing experienced players for the positions that are crying out to be filled, and develop the likes of our Jones and Osborne.

Is that a guess or do you know anything for sure?

He is - but he doesn't look to be part of their plans, does he?

Especially if they get promoted, which could well still happen.

Depends if they get a new manager or not, Alexander has been in charge for a year so based upon their recent record he now enters the danger zone, especially if they don't go up.

Browne?

He's under contract and will get another chance to impress in pre-season according to MB. Has clearly done well out on loan at Macclesfield so personally I'd like to see him being given another chance. Especially as he's had a tough year with the loss of his Dad I believe.

if i was MB id be looking to get Vose sorted immediately, i know he isnt everyones cup of tea but for me he is our best player by a country mile

Not sure he can be seen as our 'best player' because of the different roles and responsibilities that comes with different positions however it could definitely be argued that he is our best technically gifted player.

There were periods against Crawley where Vose, Osborne and Jones were linking very well so I'd love to see what can be achieved with those three playing week in week out together. Now the season is technically done and dusted MB I think should look to give those with the most 'potential' at the club the most game time.

Back to Vose he see's passes that not many others see and that includes the crowd watching. We have to try and get him on board for next year and I think MB will, because although he frustrates he can see what he is, and could be, capable of.

Vose has real talent but we need to get others on the same wavelength. Many time on Sat he was having to hang onto the ball too long because he had no one to pass to, so he had to hit a hopeful forward pass or pass it back which people got on his back for but really he had no choice if we were to retain posession.
Posted by: Maringer, March 22, 2017, 3:49pm; Reply: 20
I get the feeling you'd have to almost build your team and style of play around Vose to get the best out of him. Is he good enough to make this worthwhile?

Not so sure myself. He wouldn't be the first player with bags of ability to fail to make much of a mark in the game.

I think Vose has real talent and think we should try and sign him, I assume he's got a fair amount of Scunts contract left to run? I am sure they would ask a decent fee for him

You have to look at vose in real football context
1) can he see a pass
2) can he beat a man
3) can he retain possession and keep us on the front foot
4)does he have a football brain
5) does he excite when on the ball and does anticipation rise (crowd pleaser )
Negative !!
1) not the best in a tackle ( because  I believe he's trying to nick it rather than go through a player )
2 ) poor arielly
3) not the fastest
So would you want 11 grafters summerfield types or someone who's going to make you feel that's what I pay my monies for !!!

Vose is only 23, so room for development and MB has a good record for that.

I think Vose is reaching an absolutely pivotal point in his career where it is make or break as a football league player.

Only in England would you say at 23-25 your at a pivotal stage of your career , vose might not get it till 27

Think we need to be a bit more ruthless

KEEP - 12

Pearson - Solid, dependable and should be made captain
Sam Jones - Will be quality next term
Osbourne - Will be quality next term
Andrew - solid
Collins - solid
Gunning - think will improve
Mills - think will improve
Asante - think will improve
Yussef - useful squad player
Clements - useful squad player
Bolarinwa - Was torn but think may improve in second season
Rhys Browne - Think he deserves a chance if he happy to come back

RELEASE - 14

McKeown - Thanks for the service but prone to too many errors
Davies - Recent performances have sadly shown we cant get a consistent/full season from him at his age
Gowling - Too old and inconsistent at this level
Disley - Too old and inconsistent at this level. Love ya though Dis
Chambers - Seems out of favour with Bignot and not direct enough for me
McAllister - Seems out of favour with Bignot and too injury prone
Vernon -  Simply not good enough for this level
Summerfield - Simply not good enough for this level
Berrett - Simply not good enough for this level
Boyce - Simply not good enough for this level
Dan Jones - Simply not good enough for this level
Venney - Sadly never gonna make 1st team
Clifton - Sadly never gonna make 1st team
Wright - Sadly never gonna make 1st team

RETURN TO CLUBS:

Comley - Although would like to him back
Dyson - Although would like to him back
Maxwell - Not seen enough to believe he will improve us next season
Vose - Has talent but too inconsistent, not sure how he fits in system or team

Hope I haven't missed anyone out

WE WOULD NEED: 7

• Quality Keeper
• Another Full Back
• Pair of Wingers
• A quality centre midfield general
• An ankle biting central midfielder
• Goalscoring Striker/Poacher

• Target Man

I don't disagree with most of what you said but I don't think is as simple as "release" for the likes of Macca, Summerfield, Berret, Vernon and Boyce as they still have a year left and paying off all 4 would be a stupid waste of money. As stated I would keep Vose and it's impossible to assess Dan Jones IMHO as we have not seen anything of him but Marcus says he's "important for next season". I think there will be lots of comings and goings though for sure.

You'd keep 12 then only sign 7? Leaving us with a squad of 19?! We'd only need two injuries or suspensions and we wouldn't even have a full match day squad at that rate. Are you mad?! Plus you've gone with 3 centre backs, one of whom will be in their late thirties.

I think the bottom four of your Released list will be here next season (Dan Jones & the three youngsters), I don't know what you've seen in Rhys Browne to say that you would keep him rather than try to sign Dom Vose. The one that disappoints me is Sean McAllister who was a very important part of Scunny's promotion from this league.

He was also one of Wednesday's better players when he was there too, Shame really as we have missed that level of FL experience in the mid field in recent months.

I'm happy to keep Vernon as a squad player, people get on his back but he shows decent experience and nouse for me.
Should we get the much vaunted wide men next season he may also have chances when facing the opposition goal occasionally, instead of being ask to receive the ball with a Neanderthal defender feeling his collar every time  :)

If we're going to play effectively in different ways we need a really pacy front man and a battering ram striker.

Very little knowledge of football??  Do you even know me personally. It was also very unintelligent of me to accidentally press the 7 button instead of the 8. Please except my sincere apologies and I will try harder in future  ;)
