Looking likely to be announced we've signed him very soon from Gateshead.

If everyone keeps turning up on a Saturday there could be some more in the Summer.

I guess that four months interest free payment option was too hard for the club to resist :)

I don't know about sticking to their guns. Going back with a decent offer I'd say.

Sorry, when did Sam Jones play for MB, MM or GW before? If he hasn't, why have we signed him?

It's late in the day, and bignot had made it clear he didn't still want to be doing business today. Suggests to me that gateshead may have had a rethink

9 goals in 18 starts from midfield, and scored 19 for Alfreton last season.  :)

I suspect this signing means we will not see Dom Vose again for town

Just off the strikers apparently his best position. He's got 11 goals for Gateshead this season.

Tell you what to his credit, Bignot knows what players he wants and despite knock backs and bid rejections he gets them in the end.
Looks like hes got every player he identified beginning of january and once again looks as if hes been able to keep his claws in Bogle till he feels the time is right.

Excited to see the new lads on saturday

Well it looks like a clear out will be in the summer with all these midfielders
Posted by: Rik e B, January 31, 2017, 10:51pm; Reply: 32
Been lighting up the division so hopefully should be good. It always seems difficult to accommodate attacking midfielders though with them often bunged out on the wing.

First transfer window ever we seem to be acting like a proper club.. Nice bonus signing that!

Fairly impressive signing and a goalscorer....well done marcus and the board for getting your man
Posted by: cjbill, January 31, 2017, 10:54pm; Reply: 35
We make comment about all these midfielders but consider we have signed 4 and extended Comley's loan in this window, MB has signed more than he can play at once! I imagine a few loans to the National League will be coming up in the next couple of weeks.

Interview took place at gone 10pm, so did sign quite late.  Fairly local as well, born in Barnsley, family moved to Donny as a kid, so an easy commute for him.  :)

If omar is going, which looks likely, maybe that's how we managed this signing
Posted by: Nelly GTFC, February 1, 2017, 12:06am; Reply: 40
I wouldn't be surprised if Bignot/Fenty asked the Wigan board/management to hold off the appointment of Bogle till the very last minute, so we could sign Sam Jones from Gateshead for a relatively measly sum without them having the knowledge GTFC got loads of money lol. (thumbup1)

Agreed. Very impressive. Comes across as frank, realistic, confident and ambitious. To get through ten minutes without putting a foot wrong suggests he's honest and believes what he's saying. Great start!
Posted by: KingstonMariner, February 3, 2017, 12:42am; Reply: 47
Comes across as thoughtful (as in thinks through things, not necessarily in the being nice way), self-aware and intelligent. The sort of person we get told exists in rugby but not in football. Should do very well if he's got the talent with the ball.

Someone mentioned a new chant for him the other day what about in the style of spandau ballet - gold (been used for a few other players)
Sam Jones, Jones
always believe in your soul,
you've got the power to know your indestructible !

Excellent interview, far more interesting than the usual footy signing interview, probably helped by a good interviewer too. As somebody said Sam seems like quite a thoughtful guy. Interesting what he said about being an academy player at leeds and everything being done for you and all of them being treated as if they are the next big thing and how this makes you feel as if you've already made it.

Very impressive and very interesting. Hope he can play as well as he speaks. Strong Christian apparently, wonder whether that has a bearing on his attitude and demeanour

I reckon if he plays on a regular basis Jones will be our new penalty taker with Bogle leaving; Jones scored quite a lot from the spot, although if Asante is playing he might be in for them as he's scored a few at Solihull.

Seems like a good chap. Not like the usual crap 'oh  grimsby massive club great fans I want to play for them
' ... Just an honest approach about life and what he wants l. Hope he succeeds here

I am sure he will start today.
