Apparently Hurtsy tried a couple of times to sign Akinde he would not come that far North and did not want to train every day.

The phrase that springs to mind is "let me start the bidding at"......................and so it begins!

I have not got a clue, noticed they have built a new large all seater stand at the away end of their ground recently, naturally its empty most weeks. Though I am not 100% sure they own their ground as it might be part of a Hub that the local council set up a few years ago.

Don't Barnet make money from their facilities? I'm sure i read somewhere that bigger clubs use their ground for training and youth/reserve fixtures and that some Northern teams use it when playing in London.

Yes I think so and there is a facility that is behind the stand where the changing rooms are, I have used it a couple of times for a business I used to work for back in the day.

At one point Saracens used to train there and it has been/is used for lots of community football and rugby events so I would reckon they get a fair bit of grant money etc.. for that. Also I think London Borough of Harrow throw some money their way too.

The whole thing sounds like a Martin Allen speaks to a few journo's story or maybe a boot up the backside for some of their players.

We don't know what clauses are in Omar's contract. A release clause of £250,000 would not have seemed unreasonable 18 months ago; possibly a tad optimistic?

Release clause of £250k or £250m, (both equally unlikely I'd wager) he won't be going to Barnet.

Posted by: jock dock tower, November 30, 2016, 4:01pm; Reply: 51
Has to be driven by his agent I'd assume, knowing that bigger and better clubs will certainly be interested come January? If talk is of a possible return to the Midlands maybe the likes of West Bromwich could take a punt as Premiership money means a couple of million here or there is nothing really, and a big strong target man is Tony Pullis's type of player.

As i said in another thread before this story, i'd be astonished if he isn't being closely watched. I don't think he will see out his 3 year contract here and he seems to have gone up another notch since MB arrived. The confidence he showed scoring those two against Barnet and the two at the weekend means he will probably carry on in the same vein from now.

Have we actually formally received a bid from Barnet ?

In a statement in the GET John Fenty slammed a reported bid of £250,000 for star striker Omar Bogle as "derisory".
The Mariners figurehead also assured fans that the club would not even consider a bid as low as that for the prolific hitman.

Yet he doesn't say if a bid has or has not been made.

Most Barnet fans don't think that there is much truth in this story. If it is true then £250k seems too cheap. However I'd just like to answer a few questions made in this thread. We don't own the freehold to the Hive but we do have a long lease from Harrow council. There are several other businesses run there which help to sustain Barnet FC including a banqueting suite capable of seating 500 people, a gym, nine football pitches including two all weather ones, this season both Spain and Scotland trained at the Hive as have lots of other teams including Brazil and Germany in the past. Toshiba are about to open a medical centre with some very expensive scanners and will also use the centre for training. There is even a motor cycle training school in one of the car parks. There is a Starbucks coffee shop and a restaurant is opening in a couple of weeks.
On top of all this we sold Underhill for £14.25 million pounds so our Chairman does have funds available and he says we will be strengthening the squad in January.

Cheers for the info ob1. Don't want to be too disparaging to your club as i have no problem with you but i think most of us would be gobsmacked if he went to Barnet and would probably have a public lynching of the board. I met two very sound Barnet fans out drinking in Grimsby the night before we last played you in the league in our relegation season. Also met up with them after the game for a pint or two and they were magnanimous in defeat. Thought we were going to stay up after that game but it wasn't to be.

Thanks for the update, I live reasonably close by and it is evident that the site is a growing hub and needs to be recognised for lots of stake holders working together for the community, this is possibly the way forward for other small clubs with low attendances.

I can't see his agent advising him to extend his contract here with all the interest in him at the moment, unless it is a blatant attempt to inflate his selling price when the inevitable happens. If however we manage promotion this season, then that could change. Would be great work indeed by the club if they persuade him to do so.

There's a deal to be done Ginny. Don't forget that the bigger the fee, the bigger the agent's cut.

How many times do you see a player performing brilliantly who signs an extended contract only to move on a short time later? It happens all the time and is all part of the merry dance of a football transfer, hopefully Bogle has a top agent that will squeeze as much out of it for both parties. Let's be honest Bogle is one of the hottest properties at our level and has been touted as the next Jamie Vardy on many occasions so it's only a matter of time before a big championship club takes a gamble on him as the rewards for success at that level are massive

On a serious note I am not bothered who he signs for as long as we get a fair deal, it's right for his development and its not the Scunts!

Or Shrewsbury, Brizzle (both), anyone from Yorkshire for that matter, and Chelsea not that a move to Stamford Bridge is likely but Conte apart I dispaise everything they stand for.

If anyone comes and waves £2.5m in Fenty's direction with a 30% sell-on clause then he's gone. I just hope Fenty then allows a significant portion of that vast quantity to be reinvested in another goal scorer. Asante? Miller? A dominating, box-to-box athletic midfielder and a similarly athletic centre half, tough ask but in MB I trust.

Hopefully most of it will go on paying off the debt. Keep some for another rough diamond. Long-term interests of the club I reckon.

Totally expect the first bit to happen, or not far off.

More clubs after Omar bigger the price......hehe.

Have to say, I feel slightly guilty about talking about him in the context of how much money he's worth.

Will Fenty seriously want his money back, unless he plans to reivist the repayed loans by buying more shares.

My thoughts exactly is if our debt is wiped out on a sale then how and where will money come from for new players etc?

Sorry if it's an obvious answer 😊

£2m to Fenty, £1/2m to the squad budget.

We'd need two such sales to pay off the debt.

I take your point about him not wanting the money back. Is there anyway he could be made to though? I don't know what the legal position is. Can you refuse to accept repayment of a loan? If he had no right to refuse, the other stumbling block of course is his controlling interest in the club means he could potentially block a move to repay him!

You can tell it's a non-match day for us can't you!

He'll be worth more come the end of the season when he's bagged his 40th goal...  ;)

Bogles sale if it happens could change the dynamics of the club , in that a debt free club could see interest from other parties

Gate receipts hopefully. Developing players and selling them on is a good strategy for clubs such as ourselves if we can get it right. Just one sale a season or every two seasons can make all the difference and it doesn't have to be huge amounts either. Other teams have done this successfully.

I do agree though that if we do sell Omar for big bucks, then paying off a big chunk of the debt is a good thing.

I suspect Preston will be keen to recruit a new striker after today....

"Fulham made initial transfer enquiries for Bogle during the Summer window." Really?

It would only pay part of Fenty's debt and  leave us without a goal scorer and no money with J.F. still at the helm. He as about four million owed if I'm not mistaken.
Any monies made should write off the 300k and be invested in new players.

Whatever we get for Omar we should use some of it to pay down the debt, if we are debt free or have to service a relatively small amount then there is more of a chance to attract other investors in the club and this will also support any move to a new ground.

The rest should of course be put into the [laying budget but not in big fees as usually if  you pay big fees you usually pay big wages. We should boost the wage budget and add in a lucrative bonus scheme.

How any fee would be split between debt liability and squad addition I don't know but I am sure after all this  time JF who is the main director creditor would do the right thing.

What do you mean?

I Wouldn't accept any bid during mid season.... Doing so could completely disrupt our squad.

If we choose to sell in the Summer and he's scored more than 25 goals. I wouldn't accept anything less than 1.5 million with a hope for 2 million. Obviously, he's a different player, but Vardy went from Fleetwood to Leicester for 1 million and he was in the conference at the time. Now we are back in the league, I would expect any transfer fee to at least be doubled.

In the current market, you wouldn't expect anything less for a top league goals scorer who is under 25 to go for more than 1 million, even in league 2.

Omar (and Dayle) on this list of rising 'non league' players in the Sun yesterday:

I think Dayle would have had more opportunities with us if MB not PH had been in charge.
