I think he is bringing players in and out of the team/squad to assess what he has by the looks of it. Berrett's turn to miss out.

I think this line up shows how strong a team we have it feels like anyone on that bench could come on and do a job and there are players left including Berrett who have played regularly lately. Think Vose and Disley gave us something different in the middle when they came on Tuesday so will be hoping for more of the same with holding the ball up and a bit of creativity in the middle. We have pace on the wing too and Summerfield on his day can be a good player who can take set pieces and get a decent long shot in.

Good chance for Vose if he plays to his calibre he could be scoring for fun today

Berrett got an assist at Plymouth and won a pen on Tuesday night so feel a bit for him, although, as Ginny says, MB has got to look at players and permeatations.

The whole game really we just had more chances in the first half and barely scraped going in 1:1 at half time. Should have come out second half wanting to win but none of them seem interested really least of all Vose who had a chance to prove a point today after being left out the side a few matches. The mistakes all afternoon sound ridiculous can't wait for the highlights to see where this went wrong.

Hope the players have a nice 2 week break before another game we'll probably lose since it's against a big team and at home where we play worse.

Unfortunately i dont think the preferred shape is working, Bogle is becoming too isolated and we have been lucky he has produced some individual goals which has masked the lack of actual service/ opportunities.  Their goals sounded similar to how Carlisle broke away several times on Tuesday.
Too open at the back,  too isolated up top...not a good combination.

Not a fan of Vose myself, think he's a lazy player despite his obvious skills. Chambers a big miss for me too as Tombola just doesn't have a football brain despite his pace and power.

Town make a habit of getting poor teams back to winning ways. They have taken one point from the last 6 games and sounded like Brazil second half. Think this shows that the inconsistency will probably see us not challenging at the higher end of the table and who would have thought that this game in the tough run of games would be the first one we lost in?

I've been saying all season that the team always seems to play well when Chambers is in the lineup. Even if he doesn't necessarily stand out as MOTM, the team just seems to gel better and create more chances. He was a big miss when he was first injured, we seemed to lose our way for a while.

What's gone wrong at the back? We were praising Collins 3 games ago and pointing out the clean sheets we'd had since he joined. Now we're conceding 2 or 3 a game.
I'm really keen to see what Pearson can do under Bignot, and if he and Collins can bring some more robustness to the back line.

We're nine points off bottom and ten points off an automatic promotion place. Far too early for us to call any team in this league mediocre. The mediocre team we played today are three points behind us with a game in hand.

Agreed. That seems so obvious when you look at the scoring stats for the top teams. They're not just depending on one striker to get the goals, and all have several who are finding the net.

Posted by: Bigdog, November 26, 2016, 5:46pm; Reply: 105
It's far too simplistic to say it's the defenders' faults when we concede. I think we've got a major problem in our central midfield this season, they offer little protection for our back four and also to compound our issues are not mobile enough to drive us forward. Question marks about everyone that plays in there. They should be the glue that holds the team together, and they don't, they're far too inconsistent and frail.

I know he's a fans favourite, but Pearson is not the answer at the back, maybe Gowling isn't too. Shaun is too slow and has a bad habit of ball watching. Would scare me playing him and Collins together, would be the slowest pairing in the whole league. If MB thinks Dan Jones is not up to it, I think we need to recruit a new centre half in January as well as one or two central midfielders like Carlisle have got. We then may be solid enough to get the best out of the attacking threat we've got at our disposal.

Would like to see MB offload one or two deadwood contracted players and some loanees if he can in January and get his own team together asap.
Posted by: ginnywings, November 26, 2016, 5:54pm; Reply: 106
Totally agree Bigdog. Think we have a poor array of midfielders, who are all much of a muchness. Carlisle showed what we should be aspiring to in that department. It seems to be a problem season after season. They don't score enough either.

I don't think desire and attitude are the pressing problems, I think it's got a lot more to do with the lack of physicality and ability of some we've got in the squad..

Agree regarding Pearson and Gowling - maybe Jones or even Boyce have the pace to be Danny Collins' partner. In central midfield, we clearly lack an enforcer which is I'm sure what McAllister was signed for, Dis is not the answer and all of Summerfield, Berrett and Vose are attack-minded leaving Comley who was strangely out of sorts against Carlisle (former club maybe?). Bolarinwa flatters to deceive - Chambers is far more adept in that role.

I know we were down to 10 men on that corner but jeese that was so basic have a man on the front stick ffs.

Bogz was a cracker but he must be getting peed off being the lone ranger.

Leading scorer in all divisions now.

Very poor conceeding straight from corner.

If you look at the video its the fullback who has gone walkies- Macca not entirely to blame- pure basics- somebody going to get a bollocking from Marcus.

Golfer where did you see the footage?

The defending and goalkeeping for all 3 goals is very poor indeed, especially the third. Really basic stuff. We are going to lose games in this mad division of inconsistent teams, but some of that play is way below par.

First goal their man who scored was offside . Sat right in line with him . Young flustered Lino was way behind play . But that wasn't why we lost really . 2 soft goals in second half cost us . Time for a change in goal . Mistakes far too regular now to let go . Andrew has never impressed me and caught out today . I'd like to think MB might be thinking about January's window for a new addition or two ..Still think we need a CM as well .

Zac Mills impressed me again today . He seems to be really taking to a run in the team . Always wanting the ball , generally good distribution and has the ability to take a man on and beat him . Just need a similar left back now .

I think our left back is OK - just seems to be a bit of a scapegoat.

I'm not scapegoating him . Just don't think he's that good . Honest opinion. Not faulting his effort or professionalism.

I am not sure what position Zak was playing today as he like the other 3 at the back went missing on a number of occasions, look at their first. I don't blame him or Danny Andrew TBH but if you go 4 - 3 - 3 you cannot expect the full backs to bomb on which is something both of ours are good at without at times getting caught out.

Their third goal has made me feel rather ill.
Omar must be p*ssed knowing he's working his bollox off for nothing in return. Macca started off the season well and now it's just becoming embarrassing.... make way for Henderson?

Totally agree - if he's good enough for Man U and England Under 20s, he surely should be League 2 standard or better (remember Joe Hart at Shrewsbury at his age at this level?), because I'm not convinced that McKeown is. Good shot stopper? Yes, but so he should be. Positional sense? OK. Convincing under crosses? No. Distribution? Poor.

A list that omits all of the prerequisites of what makes a good full back. The game is about defending too, especially at full back. I'm not saying that Zak can't do any of the list below, I'm just saying what sort of game do some people see or understand?.

How about reading the game, communication, sharp in the tackle, marking, heading ability, bravery, spacial awareness, work rate, covering the centre halves well and keeping the shape of the defence and team. All  attributes that go towards keeping a clean sheet.

Fair points bigdog. I'd say he has good work rate , good in the air , not scared to tackle hard to add to the points I made . Maybe covering centre halves etc will come in time considering the jump from conf north standard just as tombola seems to be improving

Why was Maccas starting position there when the corner taker is swinging it in with his left foot. Time for a couple of games rest I think, and Gowling failing again schoolboy style for the first

We have players in that squad who can do better jobs Ben Davis, Macalister both look better imho when fit.
