Bought this the other week and have been finding it insanely difficult.

Been playing it since the CM2 days, so I feel like I have a grasp of what generally works and what doesn't, but I'm almost finding this version impossible to play.

Granted, I usually start at the bottom with rubbish clubs and rubbish players, but even at the very least I win enough games to get us well clear of relegation.

On FM17, however, I'm struggling to win a game. No matter what formation or what instructions I set, we just keep on losing. I don't think there's been a match where I've had more possession or more shots than the opposition.

Is there any kind of cheat mode where you can put Neil Woods as manager of the opposition ? ;)

Don't know if this will help at all but if you have seen Iain Macintosh do a blog on managing Everton on the old Championship Manager (which if you haven't I recommend, very funny) he is starting a new challenge on FM17 and asked one of the team behind the game for tips:

Keep sticking at it Rich .Surely the longer you play it results will come if you pay close enough attention to tactics etc.I started with Grimsby and third game in.Lost my first game to Morecambe and won my second in the league cup.I like it a lot.The last Fm version I had was the 2014 version and I can see the improvements since then.A very in depth game which I have enjoyed so far

FM nowadays is almost like a part time job. You can't just load it up for half hour and blitz a few games like you could 10years ago. I do enjoy it but the seasons take such a long time and you literally have to change your tactics and instructions for every game - real life granted, but hurts your brain after a 10hour day at work - I've not sampled 17 though, still got a game going from last years version.

Who are you playing with? (Probably a silly question)

I decided to be England as after all the embarrassment with them in the real world I thought I could be the one to lead us to the glory of '66 again!

Although seeing Grimsby in the game and where they are in the league is making me want to leave my England post and join up with Town!

Talking of something being very difficult;

I can sometimes complete the most difficult Suduku puzzles in the Times and Sunday Times.

I buy the Big Issue randomly and have tried to do their suduku.   I have not finished one yet.   I thought that it was me.  They had a letter recently that said that only 6 people in the country had the skills to complete the Big Issue suduku puzzle.

I do not see why they make them so difficult.  It must frustrate a lot of people.
