Who the hell are the FA accountable to ?
They blunder on time and time again. Jobs for the boys and the old school network at its very worst. At the moment the spotlight is all on Sam. Surely heads should role other than his.

Who appointed him ??

Or are we saying that the job of England manager is now such a poisoned chalice, we are so limited in who we appoint that high calibre (in all aspects) personnel are ruled out ??
English football is a laughing stock at the moment. So who do you think is to blame ??

The FA appointed him mate but they didn't know this was coming and he was arguably the best available candidate at the time.More worryingly that is now either Southgate or Bruce for what it`s worth whoever they give the Manager`s job to they need to give Beckham a role to try and get Joe Public back on side everyone is fed up with the way the game is run.If we want to win anything we need to appoint a winner and erm..........................................

Wouldn't surprise me if the FA bigwigs quickly found out that Sam wasn't going to be a yes man and they hatched the whole plan knowing Sam would walk straight into it .

it would be easier if we just gave up the idea of having a national team or just get Prince Charles to manage it.

Perhaps that's what Prince George should be brought up for. Send him to St. George's Park for his schooling. Uefa A licence by the age of 6, managing a conference team to cut his teeth in the game. Pro licence by the age of 10,  England manager aged 12. Not as if anything else the FA do would be any better.

This wasn't the first time he has been investigated for dodgy dealings though.

If the FA have any b@lls or integrity they should ring the same squad that investigated Blatter & Co and say our doors are open please come in and do a full audit.........
but i wont hold my breath.

Where there is money there is corruption...end of...its just whether or not you are getting a cut of it that sets your "moral" compass.

Its come a long way from Pelham/ GTFC board members donating a bit of fish to secure re-election etc but there is too much money at the top end of the game now and with all the foreign owners, holding companies, off shore investors etc involved its a mecca for dodgy dealings.

Under the rules for providing above board people to own football clubs, if this had happened at club level, the FA would be asking how he had passed the fit and proper persons test.

As mentioned above, he's been accused of being dodgy before. He threatened to sue the BBC at the time, but never did so. Why would you NOT want your day in court if you were going to win and clear your name?

The FA, by appointing him, have at the very least, failed their own responsibilities under the fit and proper persons rule.

From other comments made, it would suggest that Allardyce is at the thin edge of the wedge of corruption in the English game. The FA is responsible for that - and they should be investigated independently to see what else has gone on/is going on.

Sky are running a ticker with a couple of Sam quotes, but mostly, they are burying the story underneath constant coverage of the Ryder Cup.

My guess is that, like the Halsey revelations - nothing will happen because the English media is part of the problem.
