Heard a rumour we are holding talks with Steven Davies ex Bradford Striker. Played in the championship and league one all his career so should have Quality. Goal's record not too impressive but either was Connell or Amond.

Seen him play a few times. Not a bad player.

His goalscoring record looks pretty decent to me, especially if he is a target man type of forward. Would be an excellent signing given his previous experience.

looks a promising acquisition if you at look at his cv

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Davies_(footballer,_born_1987)  If he is a target man its not too bad a scoring record.

Heard this at the NFU game, good player think he might have had a few injury problems recently though.

According to his wiki his Injuries was earlier in his career not too recent but might not of been updated. Could be worth a gamble looks good quality and from an higher level

We could do with a super sub. ;) Dropping down a level so could fit in nicely if he can prove his fitness. 28 so legs cant be gone yet.

I hope so. Seems a good player. It's just whether he would drop down to our level after playing in the Championship and League One so far!

Got a friend who is a season ticket holder at Bradford and he reckons we will get promoted if we get him he's that good.  The problem at Bradford was Parkinson always played Hanson .  Bradford fans love him as well !

Mention him a couple of weeks ago. Good calibrate of player and great experience at higher levels. Would definitely be a hurst rabbit out the hat signing

Left-footed from these shots, scores from headers, running through on goal, good free-kick on him, a few penalties.
Check out the third goal, cracking volley.  Transfer fees of 525K, 750K and 500K. (ohmy)

He doesn't score many goals. About the same as LJL but he's a different sort of player perhaps. Less of a runner and more of a hold-up-the-ball-Lump type of player. In which case he could be handy.

Could be a very good signing for us, a player that can hold the ball up dosen't get many goals, but then Alan Connell had a poor goal return apart from that one good season for us, Davies can come here and hopefully will get goals and get his head on long throw ins and set pieces which have to better this season.

Also hold the ball up when hurst wants to use that tactic, positive move to get him if we can.

Looking at that video clip of his goals for Bristol City he looks a very decent player. Not just a hold up man but some of his goals were him coming from deeper onto crosses, and a couple of tight turns in the box. Would be a very good signing IF we can pull it off, doubt we are the only club he is talking too though, so hopefull but not expectant.
Come on Steve, you know you want to.

I've no idea how it works but we seem to do an awful lot of business with their players.
I have no idea if they represent Davies

Can't see this happening to be honest. Just asked a Derby fan and they said he's far too good for League 2. His transfer fees would probably back that up too. Imagine he's out of our price range but you never know!

Probably the same when Michael Reddy signed 12 years ago.   Far, far too good for League Two and his signing was met with amazement by many in the game.

One reason many players have links is probably because the business is based at The Deep Business Centre in Hull. They also have Tyrone Thompson as an intermediary...

Seems a decent player. Can,t really see him coming here for the money we could afford to pay. He would have been earning twice as much as he would here but if Hursts ploy is to be able to pick up decent players, who are beginning to think non-league beckons, then it just might work. There are quite a few good out of contract players who will be starting to get itchy bums.I would try to sign players who we normally wouldn,t be able to afford---no harm done.    "  Aim for the moon and if you miss you will end up in the stars "

If there is any soreness then initially Vaseline but after that hydrocortisone or similar steroid cream should do the trick 😉

Been told today that there may be legs in this one. Would be a cracking signing IF we can keep him fit. Plagued by injuries during his time at Bradford which is probably why he's considering dropping to League 2. Ability wise he's more than capable of playing in the Championship.

If we are looking for 2 quality strikers and a deal with Davies can be agreed i wouldnt be surprised if we didnt take a calculated risk with him. I see him as our main striker with PH rying to get someone else as a backup if he gets injured. Signings like this can decide if you stay or drop out of the division. Until we get a few games into the season its difficult to say how good this team is at this level. If SD is commited there isnt much doubt he can cut it this league.

Would be a major show of intent by Town and could also prove mutually beneficial. IF he stays clear of injury and bags 15-20 goals and gets a run of 40 odd games it could reignite his career. Will be forever grateful for the goals Amond scored, but nobody could dispute this would certainly be a step up in class. Prior to last season Podge was a 1 in 4 striker, Davies is a 1 in 5, at a much higher level than L2.

I have seen a couple of games so far. In both those games the new more senior players took part. We have recruited better players in defence and midfield, who given a bit more time will be the nucleus of a good team. Having said that I was left wondering, where are the goals going to come from?  Yes those in midfield will chip in with a few but up front I am not sure.
