Took my lad to cheapside yesterday to hopefully meet some players. He's only 3 1/2 but a massive town fan. Got him a little notepad and pen for autographs and off we went.

Unfortunately training had finished and most of the players had gone but we hung around and Josh Gowling came and signed his book. Then Cliften came over and he got Venney over too. My son was desperate to meet Omar Bogle but he hadnt yet appeared so we waited a little longer and then Gowling came out with Bogle, Vose and Rhys Brown who all came over. Bogle shook Gabriels hand and he was over the moon. We were then told hursty was still here so I asked one of the youth lads if we could have a minute of Hursty's time.

Hurst came out and talked to Gabriel which he loved and afterwards spent a bit of time talking to me where we discussed transfers, GTFC's scouting network and I managed to enquire about Moses Emmanuel though he said he doesnt think he wants to move up north. No mention of looking for a keeper but he did say they were focusing on strikers nkw and the rest of the squad is looking good.

I know this a bit of a ramble but I thought it was nice how all the playera there came and signed my sons book and especially how nice it was that Paul Hurst took some time to chat to me and my son.

I don't think we have a right to know, I hope he doesn't tell us anything!  Things are going well, let's not pry too deep.

Good post, this club is really improving from top to bottom.  If only the new ground could happen soon........

Gabriels favourites are Omar Bogle, Craig Disley and Paul Hurst so meeting 2 out of 3 was great for him. He even told Hursty he wants to play for Grimsby when he grows up.

Good post and one that just illustrates that despite recent successes the players still want to be close to the fans, I am glad you lad enjoyed it!

did Gabriel say "keep it Four Four Feck'n Two, Hurst" or words to that effect?

I bet he's a little angel really
