Just heard this rumour...

Dominic Vose on loan

Where does this go on the frimpong - Boyce scale
Posted by: Davec, June 19, 2016, 12:43pm; Reply: 2
Quite plausible actually, Can't get in the team at Scunthorpe, and Hurst was interested in him before he went to Scunny

Plausible enough for the plausible rumour thread you started? for what its worth he's a good player but i dont see him fitting into our style of play at all

Given that we've got about six senior players I would say we don't currently have a style of play.

Didn't want to come here in January it's a no from me
Posted by: MuddyWaters, June 19, 2016, 12:55pm; Reply: 6
On the basis that he preferred to sit on the bench at Scunny rather than come to us, then it would be a no for me.

He can keep the bench warm at scunny for me.

C'mon guys, he was offered League One or Conference. Good player if it happens. Would you not want Conor Townsend back on loan if it was offered? He chose Scunny too..

Funnily enough, i just got told the same thing about an hour ago. Also Ben Davies from Portsmouth as he wants a move to the area.

Another pointless acquisition by Scunthorpe to buy a player they didn't really need to spite us more fool him and more fool them. I don't really want someone Playing for us that doesn't want too.

Split on Vose. Had no desire to join us in January but has potential to be a quality player

Dominic Vose ripped us to shreds at the start of the season away at Wrexham.

Yes please. I was very impressed with him

That's what i was told. She wants to be around here and it almost happened last season. Seems plausible but as ever, we'll wait and see.

Don't think I blame him for not choosing non League when a higher League club come in. Things have changed now so if he comes here and he's any good, that's fine by me.

Don't think it will go to the public vote if PH wants Vose, so if he's good that's good enough for me.
Anyone who thinks he should have chosen the conference ahead of league 1 is deluded IMO. Football is a short career and they have a responsibility to their families to make the most of it surely

We got Nathan Arnold on loan before he join
Posted by: HertsGTFC, June 19, 2016, 3:00pm; Reply: 24
Vose is meant to be a bit "high maintenance" which usually does not works well with PH but he has some talent and if we could get him on a seasons loan then we should.

The Ben Davies being mentioned who is currently at Portsmouth has lots of experience but is 35 which feels a bit old, but experience will be vital so as a squad player he may be worth a look for a years deal.
Posted by: ginnywings, June 19, 2016, 3:04pm; Reply: 25
Vose signed for Scunny while they were between managers. Maybe Alexander ain't keen and he's on the way out. We did make an offer for him in Jan.

Conference still has that stigma for those who havent had the ignominious drop as we had .  Vose is a good shout , plus if we do get Boyce they can car share .  Remember we are building a team , Scunthorpe unlike us , is run differently , 6 years away is going to be a big learning curve for all .

We all know that PH tends to keep going until he gets what he wants. This determination or stubbornness can be infuriating (LJL) at times but it's great when it pays off. He may still want Vose! UTM

Can't believe people are saying they wouldn't want Vose because he wanted to try himself at a higher level rather than stay in the Conference.

Surely that's exactly the type of mindset we want to be recruiting?

If Paul Hurst thinks he is good, that`s a sign of quality in my opinion.

"According to Chris Swann we bought him because if we didn’t Grimsby would have.
Well if that is the club’s mentality then heaven help us."

Surely there's no one petty enough to step in and nick Towns potential signings in the Swann family just for the spoiling factor? It'd add up in some ways, but it's be incredibly churlish.
We really need to get back up the divisions and restore parity.

Would certainly stiffen up the midfield for the new season !

It's a key place within the team to get right - having struck lucky with Nolan last year.

Tricky situation as Hurst related to in his interview, not our player and been offered out and around on loan, another club might interest him more (Hartlepool) ;D

My guess would be we're looking at playing 4-3-3 and Mcallister will be the holding midfielder. That leaves two other places for centre mids with Vose, Summerfield, Disley and the youth players plus potentially Berrett if we still have interest there. Disley has been a magnificent servant for this club and he is a legend but he isn't getting any younger plus we've just moved up a league to a level he hasn't played at for five years. If we're serious about challenging for the play offs or better then I'd think we would need to use Disley sparingly. That isn't to say he doesn't have a role to play because he definitely does but I wouldn't be surprised to see Dis on the bench more than starting.
Posted by: diehardmariner, June 29, 2016, 2:33pm; Reply: 78
I think it will be more like two holding midfielders to allow the three more advanced midfielders and the full backs to push on.

At this stage Disley and McAllister as those holding two midfielders, possibly Venney too.

Have started a crowd funder to buy him a new pig.

Welcome Mr Vose. Have you ever played in 3-6-1 formation?

Pleased with this and the Davies signing, things looking good. Would love to know where we are at with strikers coming in.

It's that option to recall in Jan that worries me.

If Vose does well for us, we could find ourselves in the peculiar position of hoping Scunny are going well, so they don't feel that they need to recall him!

I suppose we could qualify this support by hoping they have a dreadful slump after the transfer window closes...

I don't think Scunny will need to be doing that well, they want to improve again this year and will have much better players. We may well get him permanently next summer if he does well despite the two and a half year deal he is on.

The other issue could be they recall him to sell him.

But if that happens then things would be going very well, which is a good thing, obviously!

I thought the usual thing clubs do is just tell the press the player has a strange niggle they can't work out, out for a couple of games 'til the transfer window shuts and then makes a miraculous recovery.

Having looked at his videos, the thing that strikes me is how hard he is to shift off the ball. Good physical strength and we have not had that.

If Vose gets settled in quickly in pre season training, then he could help with the Sutton Utd lad if he signs as well - for the Sutton lad on his video, I like his attitude in one clip where he lost the ball, gave the defender AND goalie 5 yards start and won the ball back out on the left wing.

If he does sign and can also bring that sort of work rate into his game alongside natural pace, then Hurst will love him !

Could be a crowd pleaser without too much coaching, even if crosses and shot taking need a bit of advice on decision making.

Vose's strength would combine well with a strong fast winger in place.
