We surely can't win 3 in a row can we? I'd be happy with a point, over the moon with a win.

Just to clear up that you dont have to be an "idiot"to get arrested!

what would you class someone as then?

after the burton sentencing. i think anyone who would willingly put themselves in a position to get arrested at a football game lacks a certain degree of intelligence, therefore could be classed as an idiot imo :).. we know the score, we know the consequencies

Some of the sentencing for the burton incident was absolutly ridicolous!infact pathethic!i,m going over abit of old ground, but travelling with town away for the last 25 years i,ve seen town fans collectively treated like 2nd class citizens and it doesnt matter whether your 15 or 65,,ok i agree that some of the behaviour warrants a tough response, but i,ve seen some disturbing evidence of stewards and police antaganising and gourding town fans into a reaction,,mansfield, lincoln, notts county to name a few!The burton episode was in my opinion blown well out of order especially the sentencing!Derby stewards that day were inciting a reation from town fans,,and even outside the ground prior to kick off, police using snatch squads randomly picking innocent people out and refusing them entry for no reason!

I know he hasn't really done anything to warrant a starting place, but it might be worth sticking Elding on so he can inevitably raise his game and stick 3 past his old club!

some of it might have been over the top, but i bet it makes people think twice about how they behaved/behave at football now, 3/5/10 year bans, prison sentencing, all for  60 seconds of aggro.. like you say its old ground, and it seems talking about FV really pisses people off, i  have followed GY since the mid 80's, and seeing the relationship between what happened then, and how some fans are treated nowadays, i can honestly say i am not surprised.Grounds were trashed etc, and maybe if the harsh sentencing was out back then, we may not have had to put up with years of FV, and the majority of fans are treated with the respect they deserve. I'll be going on the train on saturday with a decent group of friends, all pushing 40 or in our 40's, we choose a few games a season were we all turn out for a good day out, no trouble(unlike days gone by) if were antagonised, we turn the other cheek because we know that we would be idiots to even think about causing any aggro.

I'm going for a 1-0 win to town Duffy to score, I think Duffy is more than proven at this level especially his goals for Oxford, I remember when watching the live scores on tv Duffy 's name always seems to appear.  Elding also has a good record as does Hearn albeit bps north so all in all we have 3 very good strikers who can quite easily score many.

Anyway past meetings with Stockport and I agree that we don't have the best track record against them but it's time to put one past them.

Last six meetings, home and away
Stockport 1-1 Grimsby Town (fourth division, 22/12/07)
Grimsby Town 1-1 Stockport (fourth division, 15/09/07)
Stockport 3-0 Grimsby Town (fourth division, 30/12/06)
Grimsby Town 0-1 Stockport (fourth division, 23/09/06)
Stockport 2-1 Grimsby Town (fourth division, 24/01/06)
Grimsby Town 1-3 Stockport (fourth division, 02/09/05)

Last six meetings at their gaff
Stockport 1-1 Grimsby Town (fourth division, 22/12/07)
Stockport 3-0 Grimsby Town (fourth division, 30/12/06)
Stockport 2-1 Grimsby Town (fourth division, 24/01/06)
Stockport 2-1 Grimsby Town (third division, 24/04/04)
Stockport 3-3 Grimsby Town (second division, 22/09/01)
Stockport 1-1 Grimsby Town (second division, 20/01/01)

Difference is though, we play Darlo every year. We've not played Stockport for 4 seasons and they got promoted that year. (And we won there that season in the JPT).

I think it will be a tight first half, 0-0 at the break. towns fitness and new found confidence will tell 2nd half and we'll run out comfortable 2-0 winners.

800+ town fans in attendance.

Stuff history imo, we havent won 3 games on the bounce for years (Buckleys last time as manager?)  and clearly we dont have a good record at their place but i havent seen hands mention it once. Nor should we. UTM!
