Fenty, where does the fishy stand?
What are your current views on JF, what is the true current feeling amongst fishy members.
I think he should convert the benign debt into shares and stay as a director with no PR capabilities, and appoint someone capable to run the club as Chairman.

I think the events of the last 10 days show that the major shareholder has lost touch with the clubs fans. For that reason alone, he should consider what's best for GTFC

Many organisations and businesses suffer with this same phenomenon, called the "HiPPO". It stands for "Highest Paid Person's Opinion", and is where the organisation is held back because the many talented and better-qualified people within it have their ideas and skills squashed by an overbearing person who thinks that because they have the fattest wallet, they are the only one with any good ideas.
JF is a HiPPO. He helped keep the club going at a crucial point and there's no doubting that he's a true fan who wears his heart on his sleeve (probably also one of his weaknesses), but I think he now has to accept that the time has come where he's now taken the club as far as he can.
We were talking about questions for him at the Forum on another thread. I'd like to know if he believes that he's staying at the club because the club needs him, or because he needs the club (and the faint hope he may one day get some of his money out)
It seems to me that both choices facing Fenty end up with him not getting his money back. He can decide how that happens and what his legacy ultimately is:
1) Either stay on and the club dies a slow death, unable to attract investment to a club where one man has his hand round the financial throat and be remembered as the man who mismanaged a proud traditional football club into oblivion., or...
2) He bows out gracefully, gifting his shareholding to the Mariners' Trust and the people of Grimsby, so the club can be made more attractive to investors or benefactors, and new leadership can come in to build the relationships and goodwill the club needs. He retires back to the terraces with our eternal thanks for sticking with the club through non-league and doing the right and honourable thing.

Currently 9 out of 87 want you to carry on as you are Mr Fenty - that 9 probably includes you & your brothers so that's 5 out of 83.

Seriously, if he just walked out tomorrow, do you think there would be a smooth transition? It's been so long since anyone else has run the club is there anyone who knows what to do if he just walked out the door? If he's going to go, I'd like to see an orderly transition with some sort of timetable and exit date.

I'm sure the club could find someone else to swan around in a suit looking smug.

Frankly, we're in such a mess, does it matter?

Are we? Bills get paid, wages get paid, the club is always open for business. The commercial operation runs pretty smoothly and has done for years. That's before you even start thinking about money for new signings and paying staff off.

Well I'm glad you're OK with watching excrement football in a excrement ground, a team with a Dad's Army defence and zero goal threat. That's before we start on the way the fans have been treated....wasn't it you who started the thread about relegation?
