The Trust is looking at what we may be able to do for that game next season to highlight the issues faced. If you're able to hang on a bit then hopefully we can all be as united together (as possible) and raise some money for charities/good causes at the same time.

Hi bax, whilst on the subject, I notice that the AGM minutes said something about encouraging other clubs to boycott Stevenage. Are you able to say anything more about this?

For me this is the way to go.

If Town's following is down to 100 or so then that is a large reduction but if every other clubs following were to reduce by 15-20% then that would really hit them and possibly persuade them to change their ways

Essentially this. If we continue to raise awareness then we hope that it will affect positive change and positive outcomes so no-one has to go through this again. And if it doesn't perhaps raising awareness will put supporters of other clubs off going to Stevenage and hitting them where it hurts.

Speaking personally Stevenage have ducked out of every opportunity to open dialogue with us, both on and off the record. Never once have they attempted to answer any of our questions. Their arrogance has been astounding.

In an ideal world, they'll get relegated (or even better, go bust!) and we won't have to concern ourselves with playing them next season.

The fans on their messageboard (Borochat) seem just as arrogant. Must be a local attitude I guess. !!

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

Maybe we should boycott the home game later this year as it might prompt a response from JF and the boys.

What good will it do to the morale of our team if we have no supporters there?! And it's not fully supported by fans, I am a fan and certainly do not support a boycott of any kind!!

The idea of a boycott is very laudable, but I'm getting really frustrated about this matter. An alleged sexual assault has taken place and it's a criminal matter which has to be investigated by the Police. It's incredible that nothing has actually been done. I didn't think it was a matter for our club at first, but I do find it surprising that an official complaint hasn't been made to Hertfordshire Police by the board or our safeguarding officer. I accept that the club don't have a legal Duty of Care to its supporters, but surely they have a responsibility to ensure that they can visit other grounds safely.

The FA have been assiduous in investigating allegations of historic abuse at other clubs, so why is this simply being ignored?

Hence the boycott Rev. No one with power seems to actually be doing anything about it. The police, the FL, GTFC, Stevenage FC. Zilch.

So the onus is on supporters to do something, at least and until this is taken seriously.

Has the Trust approached the two local MPs so they can raise it?

Yes - Stevenage's MP ignored us totally.

Melanie Onn has been fantastic and wrote to the Sports Minister, who copy and pasted the Stevenage statement verbatim and essentially said 'nothing to see here'. Melanie has offered her help for however things progress forward.

I think it's obvious by now that those in authority, Herts police, Stevanage, The EFL and dissapointingly GTFC, now hope that this incident will go away, they have all done the minimum that they feel is required. My only comment is that if this incident had happened away from a football ground you can be sure that there would have been a different conclusion.

I totally agree
Why hasn't a criminal action been brought against Stevenage fc????

Why has getyourfactsright said absolutely intercourse all.
intercourse a boycott, why not fill the ground with town fans and give the stewards some real work to do?????

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

Whilst all busy spouting off about this that and the other ....is it not now down to any individuals who feel their rights were violated to make a direct complaint to the police ?

The club and trust have protested organisation to organisation , club to club but pretty sure the victims have to report the crime directly for the police to act. My understanding of it anyway.

Whilst Herts police are abviously aware of allegations on the day have ....(and i am only asking as i dont know) .....any of the victims/ complainants made a direct report themselves ?
Its upto them as individuals to decide if they wish to progress it now surely ?

Martin Vickers is an avid Mariners fan, always has been. Sits a few rows in front of me in The Upper at every Saturday home game.

So's John Fenty but I don't recall him sticking his head above the parapet on this issue. My question was in effect 'what has Vickers done to represent the interests of his constituents on this?'

what about gtfc fans travelling ,but going to watch the most local non league team available? Hitchin , Arlesey Town, Baldock or Stotfold all slightly north of Stevange and easy access off A1. Arlesey Town has particularly nice set up
attract the local press, boost a team in need of the coffers and have a pleasant day out

Spoke to a few of our travellers tonight and they all have the same opinion.

Spoke to a few of our travellers tonight and they all have the same opinion.
The players need an atmosphere to help them not play with no support.

That is your prerogative as it is mine to boycott as I see fit

Just wondered how many people talking about boycotting actually attended the game in August?

Seems like a freedom of choice thing to me

I attended last season and after their stewards stood in front of my 7 year old son for most of the first half so he couldn't see I decided never to go back. August sounded far worse and at cost of £100 or so I'll never ever go there again.

Of course it's a freedom of choice.  Just as attending the Checkatwat trophy is a freedom of choice.  No-one should be ridiculed or given grief for attending.  But there is nothing wrong with trying to organise some form of protest over what happened.  I was there for the last two seasons and will not be going that's for sure.
Lets see how many actually attend next seasons game there (obviously if we are both in same league) and then you will have a rough estimate of those who actually attended this season but will boycott next.
My guess is it will be quite a few.  But for those who wish to go, I genuinely hope you see us romp to victory and that it is a pleasant experience.  Whatever happens, I would wager there is a severe change in attitude towards our fans for the better from the Stewards etc.

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

For the attention of Terry and like minded fans,

If you want to go then go,

Nobody is bullying you not to,

We are all Town and we have all got our own thoughts on the matter.

Be ironic if a fixture comes out and the games got something resting on it late on in the season cos at least 1500 will travel including a sizeable element who will give the stewards and police some work to do.

Good point, so we who say we are going to boycott the game reserve the right to change our minds

Your optimism is quite refreshing Civvy, from Stevenage's behavior in response to this issue I would not bet on any improvement,

Clearly GTFC don't feel it's appropriate to openly comment or back a boycott but they could take action to support people who did not want to go by opening the bars on the day and showing the game on i follow or something similar.

The fans on their messageboard (Borochat) seem just as arrogant. Must be a local attitude I guess. !!

Grimsby must be knee deep in noses cut off to spite faces.

Boycotting the game will not hurt Stevenage one iota. Far better to turn up in even larger numbers than this season. Stick up two fingers, if you must then take the p!ss by the men wearing bras and the ladies not wearing any just in case the stewards haven't learned their lesson - but I suspect strongly that they will have.
.
Stevenage can deny it happened as much as they like but they aren't going to risk it happening again that's for sure so I think stewarding will be very low key so explosives, Uzis, anti-personnel mines and AK47s can be carried openly in Lidl, Aldi or Pound Shop carrier bags or down the legs of shell suits with impunity.

Only because some sillycunt called Ancient Mariner keeps winding them up. He's still at it otherwise they would have forgotten it by now - in fact perhaps we should do the same

In answer to herts' question. I went last season and this and won't be going unless there's an about turn by Stevenage. And neither will the other 3 people who went with me.

Let people boycott it if they want to and go if they want to. Both sides have their points. In reality, everyone who wants to go should be free to go and not bullied into boycotting a game if they don't feel it appropriate.

Personally, I think away fans are too often treated as an inconvenience and a security problem (Mansfield was a joke). A lot of clubs would be delighted just to get rid of them entirely like Luton tried in the 80s. So I think it's playing into their hands by not going at all.
