Would be a very good payday regardless of the outcome and, as long as it isn't a complete catastrophe, you're raising your profile further for future jobs.

Plenty of managers have continued to find employment thanks to a big club's name on their CV.

Some go on to manage even greater clubs like Grimsby and Slade

Must admit I fancy him for that job he would get them organised and avoid back to back relegations which would be a catastrophe for Sunderland. Once he stopped the rot the big questions would be can PH get on paper better players to perform and obtain Promotion whilst fighting against teams with bigger budgets? Sunderland don`t seem to spend a lot in recent seasons but the potential of the Club is enormous he would be mental not to give it a go.

Good luck to him if he takes the chance but he will need some support with PR as you are really under a big spotlight locally and still nationally despite their decline.

Why not.
He would keep em up.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

He's an 18/1 shot. Ahead of him are some big names and experienced Championship managers. Would Sunderland want to take a gamble on him?

What Sunderland need now is a sensible appointment. No punts on untried managers - just someone who's proven over time that he gets teams playing as teams (because they've got the individual talent to get out of bother).

It's literally all they need. Get those players playing for each other and they'll be fine. There's enough quality at that club.
