Game of 2 halves like ive never known. First half dreadful, a lot of anger and murmurings on the terraces, created nothing and long ball football. 2nd half the goal changed everything, passed our way through port vale, attacked on the wings and used vernons strengths especially, fantastic build up for the 2nd goal with dembele finishing superbly after an outstanding ball from summerfield, matt and woolford had chances to extend the lead, sat back last 10 and put ourselves under pressure with balls into our box causing some concern, thought vale were poor but take nothing away from us 2nd half, outstanding performace, now we MUT back it up, and get some momentum going

Second half was obviously much better than the first half, but vale were poor. Pleased for dembele who walked through them when given the ball to feet, and he deserved his goal. But as I said, vale were poor, and we still revert to the hood far too much when we had displayed to ourselves what we could do when we played to feet. A shout out for Summerfield too, who's quick balls out to the wing put vale in difficulty.

Just back home. Like already said a gmae of two halves, Vale were better in the first half passing the ball and deserved to lead after a Macca clanger. Vale had a number of close calls and our best came from two long range shots from Dembele and Dixon as all we provided going forward was hoof ball as we sat back.
2nd half, we were the better team as shock and horror pressing high and passing the ball on the deck to either feet or into space allowed us to cut our way through Vale. Jones scored a good header and deserved something today after doing a lot of running for no reward in first half. Dembeles scored a good goal after a great run and assist off Vernon. Dembele should of had a hatrick today really but for some great keeping. Then we let Vale back in after a series of negative Subs and a change of tactics. Matt up front on his own and a flat midfield who sat on the edge of the box except for Woolford and Summerfield.
MOM I could pick 4 today, Dembele, Summerfield, Vernon or Davies.
Slade Out.

Davies had 6 simple crosses in 1st half each one cleared by the first man and continued in that vain 2nd half never man of the match, Someone needs to teach Macca to command the 6 yrd box as the goal was dreadful weakness from him, a Sunday League keeper would of caught that cross. Now the 2nd half Much better, for me Summerfield is the pick of the players at the moment, despite a couple of wayward passes, Dembele looked great with a bit of space to run into with the ball at his feet and his great dribble led to the corner we scored from. Everyone put a shift in but for me Woolford/Berrett the weaker players today. Crazy subs from Slade, leaving us with 3 full backs and a lone striker on the pitch. and sinking into our own area allowing Vale to cross the ball from anywhere they liked and we could easily have conceded but for a bit of luck and their inability to finish. Good win, papering over the hoofball cracks from the first half, against a team that had not won since the opening day of the season. But cant beat winning against your local team.

fantastic build up for the 2nd goal with dembele finishing superbly after an outstanding ball from summerfield
Just wanted to emphasise this point. You won't see a better through ball anywhere this weekend than Summerfield's pass. Great vision, perfectly weighted, just superb.

I never thought I'd be saying this at the beginning of the season, but Summerfield would be one of my first names on the team sheet at the min. There's a real purpose to his play, and he always looks forwards rather than backwards.

Great ball by Summerfield and really composed finish. Don't think that's a foul on McKeown, probably telling that there's a half hearted moan by Berrett but no other complaints.

Doesn't look like a foul on Macca either to me, so no complaints.
Great result and encouraging second half performance. Good following too. Well done to players and supporters. Nice to be comfortably in mid table with the plays off 4 points away and the relegation places 12.
Lots of aspects to improve but a ground out 3 points away anywhere is always to be applauded, and toasted with a few beers.

Just seen the highlights.
I think Macca needs to be more "streetwise". A lot of keepers, ( and other players too for that matter ) would have made it into a foul by going down or at least making the most out of any contact. Other teams do it to us, but we don't do it back, hence, we get goals given at one end, and goals not given at the other. I think he could have been braver instead of relying on the ref to give it.
That said, old Nigel Batch would have put the player on his back in getting to the ball, and get a free kick for it!

I really like Macca but for me that's poor keeping. As a keeper you want to be screaming keepers and really going full force with BOTH hands to claim the ball or knock it away.. On a positive note, love the build up play to Dembele goal, slick, simple passes on the floor. What a pass by Somerfield

I watched Lincoln today and their keeper put 3 of his own defenders on the floor punching the ball clear. As has been said, McKeown needs to be more streetwise.
Some cracking long shots in there from Dixon and Dembele. Good to see us score from a corner and that through ball from Summerfield was superb. It will be interesting to see how he kicks ok now he has his first goal.

Pop along to Bradley pitches tomorrow morning, you will see several. It was a nice pass, a long overdue pass but a professional footballer should be able to deliver those day in day out....its the movement off the ball of Dembele that makes it IMO. Well picked out by Summer's all the same.

Agree about the game of two halves!
Summerfield, Davies, Dembele and Dixon ( yes that's correct!) all played well
ThinkVale have enough to survive provided they can get some confidence from somewhere. They fell apart when we equalised and panicked. Gunning wasGunning. Elbowed Dembele in the face then made out Dembele have run into him. Still a complete goon!
Football was too direct 1st half but varied it enough to cause problems 2nd half. Also visibly upped the tempo.
Once again a ridiculous waste of public money. Must have been 150 cops on duty. Overkill in the extreme and why were all Town fans kept in the car park for so long? We clearly have a horrendous reputation. Wonder how many deaths and rapes were committed today

For felicitations sakes. Macca got an elbow in his face. What do people expect?
Someone said he should have gone down and got a free kick. He did go down. What's he supposed to do, go to acting classes to help persuade the ref to give him more free kicks in the future? he's either too powder puff for some people and not powder puff enough for others. Can't win.

I think Macca was fouled. Their bloke got away with it because he was sort of facing towards the ball though not really making a serious attempt to win it. Definitely jumped into him without any intention of winning the ball.

Completely agreed Sunday league players can do that but not at the pace of pro’s though. Moosey has called it bang on, watch it again whether or not he meant it Jones came short for the ball and created the space for Dembele to run into the “skill” from Summers is to pick the pass as much as make it, so a good team goal....... all being well coached by Wilko.

Last 6 games = 3,drawn 2, lost 1.that 11 points in 6 games, which over the season would result in c.85 points. Still I suppose even quoting facts like that is pointless with brain dead idiots like you
I'm sorry if a boring local derby draw where all we did was hoof the ball up hopelessly, a game we managed to snatch a draw from and a game where we just managed to just beat a relegation battling side before nearly throwing it away are good enough for you. We have a squad that isn't good enough which was desperately put together, boring hoof and hope football, no obvious tactics and you still want to support that because he's managed to draw to midtable teams and beat 2nd off bottom. I will be shocked if Slade manages to maintian that form, he'll shoot himself in the foot back to hoof football like the first half of today instead of the passing football thats has helped us beat, Vale, Accrington, Yeovil and Chesterfield. Slade Out and it will be Slade out every match win draw or lose as he is clueless we might as well of kept Bignot on at least he played attractive football to go with the up and down results. But then again I suppose dwindling attendences, mixed form and weekly trips to the chiropractor is good enough for happy clapper brain dead people like you. Slade Out

If you think the team under Bignot played “attractive football” then my friend your deluded as we where pretty much just as bad under him as we are under Slade. Where a mid table Division 4 club FFS deal with it.

Slade Out.
Try reading the first half of your second paragraph.dsmned by your own words. Btw I'm no happy clapper am completely ambivalent towards slade, but if you think Bignot would be getting more success then you are a footballing idiot

We played alot better football under Bignot then Slade, the results were just as bad but at least I could watch without hurting my neck or falling asleep. Bignot got it wrong with his team selections and tactics but bare Gunning (and I liked Gunning as bad as he was) he brought in some good players which resulted on Town fans turning on him. Slade's has assembled a sub bar squad except for Dembele and Woolford and has had a series of bad results and hoof ball"tactics" which is resulting in Tiwn fans turning on him. Its just happy clappers can't say anything bad about the club, I was shot down for bemoaning the signing of Kelly and Hooper and despite seeing them play fans on here still can't bring themselves to see the trueth and defend them to the hilt. WIth Slade we won't even be trying for the playoffs, never mind top 3 he said he wanted. I know where we are in the league and I don't think we'll ever be challenging much higher then League 1 but I at least want a manager who makes it look like we could challenge, rather then one that makes me check the score of teams below us in the league. The football under Bignot was dire. I suppose you enjoy shipping three goals in 20 minutes to a team that hasn't scored for 5 games? Or losing 5-1 at home to local rivals. Give over.

Can happy clappers not read? I'm not saying the results were good under Bignot, but the football he had us playing was. Results at times were excrement, but under Slade we aren't much better OK we don't concede as many goals in a match thats the differnce. After 7 more games I would like to see the difference between Bignot and Slades win to loss ratio as I bet they will be very similar if not the same.

Hurst had 17 points at exactly the same time last season.bignot got 18 points in his first 12 but went downhill from there on in. So slade is no better or worse than his 2 predecessors, but he still needs to be sacked obviously.i do detest blind prejudice

Please can someone confirm that this squad is half Slades and half not with next season being the opportunity to create a 100% Slade squad?
As long as we maintain League 2 status this season then surely we judge after that. Until then surely we must be realistic about our KPI's this season and continue to consolidate as a football league club.

Looks like son of Madely is still in bed sleeping off too many sherbets
I am ok being four points off playoffs after twelve games and twelve points off bottom two
Our results on lower half teams are excellent if you analyse the points taken
We clearly struggle against the better teams and have to get better there
Let's see where we get to by Xmas before we start worrying about who our manager should be.

I may get shot down here but as long as we try to play football when it's possible I'd be happy with this sort of run of results until the end of the season. Average mid table with the same amount of wins and loses, give Slade a year to settle and sort his team ready to bring in a couple more next season to kick on and aim a little higher. I think most people are realistic here and the reason people are so aggy is just the style of play, yes we all want to win but we accept we can't beat everyone we just want some sort of decent football to watch and to see our team give it their all.

Couple of things, - IMHO opinion the football was no better under Bignot, Crewe (A), Donny (H&A) Stevenage (A) Crawley (H) Exeter (H) all spring to mind. If you went to Portsmouth it was embarrassing. Even in games we won Hartlepool (A), Colchester (H) we where really poor. - After all that time in non league and 1 season back in the EFL is it realistic to be expecting play off's? or "top 3"? Many teams currently above us have been trying for a lot longer. - I suggest that many have drifted off not because of the football but because all of a sudden we are small or at best a medium sized fish in a bigger pond where as in the last 3 seasons at least in non league we where right up there. We are an average 4th division team with and average 4th division squad and we have average resources would changing the manager now make any of that better? if you believe it will then how? Slade has assembled a squad of strangers with some coming in at the last minute to expect champagne football is not realistic until they gel together, the current style is pragmatic to get points all being well it will look better at some point soon but for the time being I'm happy to win games as winning games usually takes you closer to where you clearly feel we should be, playing nice football at this llevel sometimes does not.. .

I don't remember playing good football whilst getting absolutely tonked by Crewe/Portsmouth/Donny. The football under Bignot was absolutely dire. Neil Woods dire. You're talking crap.

Pragmatic is as good a word as any to describe Sladeball. That said, there are glimpses of something a little easier on the eye but it seems we have to concede first or be playing better opposition (Scunny/Derby) for it to happen.

Macca put gunning “on the floor” last season against Wycombe, can you recall what happened after that?

Completely agreed Sunday league players can do that but not at the pace of pro’s though.
Moosey has called it bang on, watch it again whether or not he meant it Jones came short for the ball and created the space for Dembele to run into the “skill” from Summers is to pick the pass as much as make it, so a good team goal....... all being well coached by Wilko.
Really? you know this for a fact or are you just guessing?

Well there are a couple of players that RS signed that will likely be here next season as I believe they are under contract and they are Hooper and Kelly, one is looking like a permanent sub, the other can't even get on the subs bench so I'm not as confident as you for a 100% RS squad.

Just watched the Dembele goal a couple of times and I'm yet to see where Vernon was involved, it was a pass from Berrett to Summerfield who then threaded the superb pass/assist to Dembele..

I think what he means is vernon came deep for the ball which opened the space for Dembele. 👍

Against fat binmen who had a few bevvies the night before. Try doing it against seasoned professionals.
it might be against fat bin men.... but...its fat postmen that are playing against them....all relative to the level you are at.....it was a nice pass....but the run of Dembele and Vale's pathetic offside trap that had the bigger influence. Not trying to take anything away from Summers as he still had to see it and execute it ....but ...it wasnt a ridiculous piece of skill that the crowd drew breath at....it was a 15? yd pass into a yawning gap. Regardless of how you rate it ...it was still lovely to see it from a Town point of view after 11 games of "strategic" long ball to the front men.

I haven't seen any ball boys at BP for a while, when they do turn up, do they do it for the love of the club
its a matchday experience.... £250 a pop...roll up roll up....be closer to the action than anyone else...get the opportunity to actually touch the match ball.....potentially get a "thank you" from a real footballer as you give the ball back......influence the match result by hanging onto the ball longer than is necessary whe we are winning....freeze your t!ts off sat on a damp cinder track....potential TV appearances if you fook about with the ball when it comes to you or mug off an opponent player....

it might be against fat bin men but...its fat postmen that are playing against them....all relative to the level you are at.....it was a nice pass....but the run of Dembele and Vale's pathetic offside trap that had the bigger influence.
When you've watched Town for the past six or seven seasons, it was a ridiculous piece of skill that I drew breath at, been longing to see play like that since the days of Cockerill & Cunnington

Pinault could've made that pass while simultaneously rolling a homosexualedit: The last word was common slang for a cigarette, but I quite like the image the swear filter throws up

Btw cunnington and cockerill would have struggled to make that pass . Passing wasn’t their strongpoints
