3-1 Town, Hooper and Kelly both have points to prove, pick Kelly at left back and Hooper up front with Vernon.

Why put a player who is too scared to tackle anyone at left back.
Got a bad feeling for this one with the return of Aspin. I was there the night he became a local hero by by dribbling the ball from the edge of his own area to about 25yrds out and scoring into the top corner against us (think it was when Laws was manager as Ivano was playing) He would average one goal every few seasons in those days, and my boss always reminds me about that goal and every ones shock he didnt get a nosebleed by entering our half, more than when they hammered us about 5-0 several years later(Newell)

So think we will be v average again and lose 2-1. Hooper scores as a sub, The Pope both of theirs 5073 with just 297 from Town due to lack of interest in Sladeball.

My Prediction is Gunning will get sent off.

In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions.
Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them.

I'm off today and my last away game was against a team in the same region who were on an equally bad run, and we lost 5-0. I'm praying it's not a repeat of Crewe.

Vale fan here in peace... I wouldn't put any money on us to win today, new manager or not. We've been somewhere between average and awful all season. Stevenage away last week was dire, just a long ball up to Pope, who is a shadow of the player who scored 31 in this league 4 years ago. We can't score and recently, we're struggling to defend. There was an interesting stat the other day that said we'd played 8 different goalkeepers in the last 8 months. We still haven't got a decent one.

The only redeeming features are that at home, we've been average rather than awful, and the new manager effect. Aspin is a club legend here and his appointment has produced a real buzz aroud the place. Lots of friends who haven't been for years are coming along today because of the feel-good factor. We have been getting 4,000ish at home but I wouldn't be surprised if today topped 7,000 or even higher, especially if you bring a few.

My prediction, 2-2. JJ to get at least one of yours (despite looking lazy and far from bothered in his time with us).
