Cooper had some promise early on but he proved to be a very prickly character, not at all good with one to one man management. He seems to have fallen out with fans favourite Noble and apparently Noble's gone.
Maybe it's the pressurised nature of the modern game but managers such as Cooper, Mills, Burr etc seem to have a diminishing shelf life.

All gone wrong for Mills since he got York promoted

To be fair he did a good job at Gateshead (falling over and time wasting isn't as easy as it looks you know).

Anyone else of the opinion that it might be a good idea not to sack a manager on a regular basis  ?

From the outside it is easy to say clubs overreact by sacking their managers. From the inside rarely a week goes by when there isn't a group of supporters at many clubs demanding the manager be sacked and directors usually give into it eventually. Given time most managers would I suspect turn things around.

You need to pick the right manager and stick by him in the long-term.  The difficulty is finding the right man and then knowing whether you have the right manager in the first place.

The difficulty is holding your nerve whilst all those on the fishy are losing theirs

The irony in this situation is that York stuck with two wrong managers for far too long - McNamara who had an appalling record, and also Mills, who arguably should've gone before they were relegated from the conference, or before this season started.
