We need to get Clements back in that midfield. I know Slade has been saying his not at match fitness etc but I don't buy it, I think his simply fell out of favour with Slade.

Last season he worked well next to Osbourne, even getting 4 goals in his 16 appearances. Surly his more consistent than Summerfield and Berrett?

I have no doubt once Osbourne is fit, Clements gets his chance and McAllister gets more involved as i see him as a unproven player yet because of injuries we will become a lot better in midfield. May even get the ball down and start playing a lot more on the floor.

Bolly needs a proper chance on the wing his full of speed and can cause a lot of defenders trouble, Dembele obviously has a lot of potential but for now I see him as a super sub, he seems to me his lacking confidence and when the team plays better he will grow a lot more confidence and becoming a vital player in the 2nd half of the season.

It's so frustrating because I honestly think we could have a talented, creative midfield but am the minute it just isn't happening.

The way we played last night you could have played Scholes and Keane there and not made any difference. There was more chance of the ball being on RAF radar than Berrett and Summerfield's

I really have no idea why people keep persisting with the thought that McAlilster may come back and change our fortunes based on less than 4 games in well over a year and not much liklihood of him returning any time soon if at all..

I think it won`t be long before the club and McAllister will have an amicably parting, there`s injuries and injuries, will probably see Osmond in  before him anyway

What in his current and past GTFC career makes you think that will actually ever happen ? He is a write off end of and if he becomes any kind of regular player in his remaining months of contract i would be amazed.

Seems the 'match fit' excuse gets trotted out for players not in favour by Slade as others who were signed by him appear to have slotted in straight away even without a full/partial pre-season.

I personally like Clements as a player, but it's interesting to see that he seems to have become a lot more popular on here since he stopped playing games for us!

I must be in a minority but I think Berrett is decent. He's been consistent and looks a quality player this season. I've been amazed to see him winning tackles and getting about the pitch. I'd say this year we have bigger problems than the middle of the park.

We can't strike a balance at the back or up top.

I think they've both done OK this season, but not exactly brilliantly. However, both are just lacking that certain something in the middle of the park that we need, not least of which is goals.

Looking at the League stats, our midfielders (including wingers) have scored 3 goals in 10 games between them this season and one of those was a penalty. I suppose Jones was playing wide when he got his goal from open play, but that's still only 4 goals in 10. Our defenders have scored four between them as well (albeit including a penalty for Davies).

That's really not good enough if we want to be up near the play-offs. Clements alone scored 4 goals in 16 appearances last season, for example.

Doesn't matter who we put in midfield the ball was constantly hoofed over their heads missing them out.

Part of the problem is when our back 4 get the ball there is no movement in front of them looking to take the ball. The opposition close them down quickly knowing they will be forced to hit it long.

Taking that a stage further, there were many occasions where Berrett & Summerfield had to pass back to the back 4 to hoof it on Tuesday because of the 4 in front of them only Dembele was making any movement. Hooper, Vernon and particularly Woolford were very lazy without the ball.

I thought Woolford looked a proper footballer against Yeovil but was gash Tuesday night. He hardly did a thing and i'm surprised he lasted as long as he did.

to the earlier poster bemoaning Bolarinwa not being involved; i dont think he's good enough.  DJ is a lot better, and if Dembele gets rested it will be for DJ not Bolarinwa, who hasn't done enough to hold down a place......

The old midfield question.

It's a bit early in the season but not unsurprising considering results.  Apart from the Jamie osborn loving do "we" like any of the midfielders we have?  Even siriki is coming in for a bit of stick.

I'm not even sure what's more infuriating,  the number of managers we have had over 15 years incapable of signing a decent central midfielder or the cm''s that have shown some promise that have been misused and thrown to the side for some urine poor reason.

I've got my digits crossed that a Summerfield revival is on the cards helped by the lesser spotted Sean Mac.

Probably as likely as Macca catch from a corner but still. #utm

I don't think DJ has played a full game as he? hard to tell how good he is from the bits we've seen but he has promise.

I still think Tombola has the ability to go past people and if played in a run of games with a settled side he could progress. The end product is poor but if we could get more players into the box for him to find it might look different.

For this level I think our mid field squad when all fit (don't include McAlister please) is no worse or no better than other sides it's just that we don't seem to get the bet combination for a run of games.
