He's better known for SF and historical fiction, but this one turns into a clever world-spanning thriller, albeit after a slow start. Warning: over 1,000 pages.

Though I haven't tried the Nightingale stuff, not keen on supernatural. Love the Spider Shepherd series, Leather is a genius IMO. The obvious for me, looking at your reading list are Chris Ryan and Andy Mcnab. Mcnabs Nick Stone series is into about it's 15th release now and getting very tired IMO, I couldn't finish his last book Cold Blood but the first dozen or so are brilliant.

There are about six of those. all pretty good. If its action adventure you want check out the Lee Child's 'Jack Reacher' books. There are about 21 of them, so plenty to choose from. If Dan Brown is your thing other authors such as Steve Berry's Cotton Malone series and Scott Mariani's  Ben Hope books are decent reads and often have a historical angle to them.

I have read nearly all their books. Sorry for posting late.  I don't often look at non-football - although same as "football" these days.

Working class lad who's a dab hand with a missile weapon, fights the French, dodgy comrades and upper class prejudice, becomes an officer/gentleman at arms. Errr...that's it. Is the Last Kingdom series better? I enjoyed the TV series. Through the door there came familiar laughter, I saw your face and heard you call my name. Oh my friend we're older but no wiser, For in our hearts the dreams are still the same.
