| In his three stints as Grimsby Town manager spanning over 10 years the club was never relegated and he also guided them to three promotions. Only 14 managers have reached 1,000 matches in charge of a Football League team by 1998 and Buckley is one of them. GOD |

I'm not going to argue that. Ultimately the resources blame still falls on the same desk though. Time for change.

Whenever Town lose, there will be a bunch of us who will look at what Paul Hurst is doing and think, 'what if'.
It doesn't do us any favours - we are where we are - but it's important to look at what happened to learn from any 'mistakes' so we can be stronger in the future.
PH had his faults (who doesn't) but good managers are rare. When you get one, and he proves himself, you do all that you can to keep him.
I don't believe GTFC did all that it could to keep him.
I'm speculating, of course, because I don't know the details, but the impression I get is that we've since given both MB and RS more than what PH wanted to develop his vision for the club.
We've got RS now. What's done is done and we need to move forward. Hopefully Slade can draw on his vast experience to get the team playing much better and we'll start picking up a few more wins sooner rather than later.

I think we got a local lad with a sports Science degree, a masters in S&C, accreditation to the UKSCA and experience of working at FL clubs in a S&C capacity.

Sounds amply qualified, and you'd imagine cost the going rate, whatever that may be.

Quoted from 120790
What a truly outstanding performance from a manager.
Leaves a team that was flirting with League 2 play off places, having persevered to get his team promoted back to the football league.
Takes on a massive challenge, the job as manager of a failing league 1 club who look nailed on to get relegated. Puts every bit of faith and confidence in his own ability to coach the failing club, and is successful in keeping them up.
Spends a summer rebuilding, signing some players that he has worked with before, that he can trust to do a good job. Unearths some gems, mostly unexpected, but then again he has a track record of doing this time and again.
Makes a terrific start to his first full season in charge in league 1, charging straight to the top of the league. Looking very much like a team that is capable of challenging for at least the play offs.
Well done Paul Hurst at Shrewsbury, the best gaffer we had in an age.
To all those that were constantly on his back, and took exception when he exercised his right to succinctly remind you that he's the professional football person, not you - I remind you of this well used phrase:-
"Be careful what you wish for"
Shouldn't your dig be at Fenty who didn't do what was necessary to keep him?
