Apparently Bogle is set to joint Cardiff tomorrow for £1million.

If he goes for 1 million then that’s 700k they owe us plus the 100k they already paid us so 800k.

Then hopefully 20% sell on clause of the 1 million so another 200k.

1 million in the bank.

We don't even know what the fee was that we sold him for.

Odds slashed: Bookies cut Cardiff City into 1/5 to sign Wigan striker Omar Bogle

HITC

Tuesday 15th August 2017

Popular bookmakers SkyBET have dramatically slashed the odds on the Bluebirds signing Latics forward Omar Bogle.

The 24-year-old moved to Wigan from Grimsby Town on transfer deadline day in January, for a fee believed to be in the region of £750,000, but only managed to score three goals in 14 outings for his club.

Sky Sports claim that Latics boss Paul Cook doesn't believe that Bogle fits into his system and philosophies, and has made him available for transfer this summer.

Grimsby's Omar Bogle celebrates with team mate Jon Nolan after scoring his and the teams second goal of the game during the Vanarama Football Conference League Play Off Final between...

And SkyBET believe that he could very well be plying his trade in Wales this term, listing Cardiff as short as 1/5 to sign the pacey forward, ahead of Scunthorpe at 6/1.

Bogle possesses natural raw talent, blistering pace, and an admirable work ethic, but there are questions as to whether he has enough quality to cut it in the Championship.

He is valued at around £800,000 by his club according to Sky Sports, so he will surely be worth taking a risk on.

And who knows, his goals could make the difference between an average campaign and a very good one for Cardiff.

I was told by the club that Town sold Bogle for £1m as the board refused point blank to do business at less.

I doubt we will be getting any sell on money tbh

Read my original post.

The ***Rumours*** that I have heard are:

We sold Bogle for £800k + Addons.
They paid £100k up front.
They owe £700k.

If he goes for £1 million.
We would get our £700k + any sell on clause %age.

***Rumours***

All this is actually a real shame. Omar had/has the potential to be a very good championship striker and be worth £5million+ at least. In fact at today's rate maybe even double that if he reached maximum level.

If he joins Cardiff, gets his head down and has basically a full season in the Championship, I think he will be fine.

Don't sell-on clauses only tend to come into effect for the amount over and above the original fee? I be amazed if we got anything more from this transfer, providing there is some truth in the rumour.

If Brigg is right and they still owe us alot of money it wouldn't surprise me if the remaining amount is spread over 24 months lol.

Him moving now is excrement for us. It would've been better if Wigan had loaned him out for the year.

As for him, I hope it works out (if true). Not sure what's gone on at Wigan but I hope they end up regretting letting him go.

So if its undisclosed could Wigan lie about the fee involved meaning our sell on if one exists is effected?

Surely there must be some form of safeguard clause from the original transfer that now pays Town the full outstanding amount if owed ??

Quoted from Cardiff forum
Not far of the mark for me.First time I saw him was when we was in the conference and in truth was expecting more from him after what I read about him from other football fans. Struck me as a good solid player and that was it. Dembele  impressed me far more Saturday against Coventry

Good move for Omar, to be fair Warnock tends to look after his players you very rarely see former players moaning about him.

Regarding the cash not even worth speculating what Town will get unless you actually know the intricacies of the deal.

Yeah just ignore the 19 goals in the division above in about five months, almost single-handedly keeping a fairly poor side away from the bottom of the table.

Exactly this point.

You can always rely on at least one fishy poster to insist that John Oster/Ryan Bennett/Omar Bogle/whoever moves up the ladder post-Town was  over-rated/rubbish/mediocre/lucky whilst at Town.

Good luck Omar!

No not a penny, so I intend to buy JF's nice car from him, on higher purchase, then sell it cos that will mean I owe him nothing !!!!

Think thats what paying by instalments mean, however, can imagine JF may not see quite the same, come on Aaron engage the grey matter mate

its a shame we didn't have an agreement clause that if he was sold on,we would get 1st refusal, and at a cut down price, I would have him back in a shot. Think he would link up well with Dembelle, as long as RS played with more than one striker up front. Oh yes, I can dream.

Thing is a player can stand out whatever position he is in be it midfield, upfront etc. Dembele stood out for me immensely Saturday against Coventry and was the best player on the park for me .

Thing is a player can stand out whatever position he is in be it midfield, upfront etc. Dembele stood out for me immensely Saturday against Coventry and was the best player on the park for me .

Really you thought he was better than Jones for Coventry ?

It's a shame for towns bank balance that Omar didn't go to a club like Cardiff back in January as he'd probably have scored a load instead of fooking around at that w.anky little club Wigan and we'd be looking at a decent sell on % at some point in the near future that would've wiped our debts out the way the transfer market is going .

* when I say debts please don't let this start another lengthy argument about benign loans

No I don't think so because the way greed has taken over the game now it wouldn't surprise me if Wigan looked for every loophole there is which means they don't need to pay us any more money. There's bound to be some loophole

£700k plus a player. Tbf we'd do the same if meant saving a bit of cash.

The most underhand move I've seen was Barry Fry generously offerung to buy out Ryan Bennetts sell on clause because "we aint going to sell him. Onest guv"

So we're saying one player who has played 2 league games is better than someone who scored 19 goals in the first half of last season and scored 2 in the play off final?

Indeed, and wouldn't it be good if he shared it, don't hold your breath though Les.

There really isn't "bound" to be some loophole or else every club would take advantage of it. It would mean every club would be buying players for huge amounts (wouldn't matter how much) and then selling the player on after 6 months and magically wouldn't have to pay the money they agreed. Of course they wouldn't then get the money they had agreed to sell for as the club that bought off them would in turn sell the player on after 6 months etc. In short nobody would sell players as they wouldn't get the money if the next buying club could simply refuse to pay.

This probably comes as a bit of a blow as I'd imagine there were lots of add-ons attached to Omar's performance for Wigan - goals / appearances etc. However, we should get a nice sell on fee which we wouldn't have got if he's been an absolute flop or ran his contract down at Wigan. I guess you never know what you're going to get with the extras on a transfer so I hope we got a decent amount outright. The accounts will reveal all.

That was the lad with the pony tail wasnt it?     Jones looked good and was Coventrys best player but for me Dembele looked more exciting when he got the ball. Admittedly didnt get it as much as Jones but when he did get it thought he looked absolute quality on it.

Liam Wood (GET reporter) seems to think the sell on only applies if the fee is greater than what Wigan paid.  Now if its 750K great but if it was 1.2 mill we lose out.

Big difference was Jones was fed decent balls from midfield poor old Dembele had to make do with picking scraps up from defence.

No we don't. If Wigan paid us £750K and we get, lets say, 20% of Wigan's profit then in total we have made £800K if they sold him for £1million. Whereas if we sold him for £1.2million (for example), then we get £1.2 million, I know which I'd rather have.

Cardiff paid £700k for Bogle (source: Neil Warnock's gob). We'll be getting intercourse all in sell on payments.

I was told by the club that Town sold Bogle for £1m as the board refused point blank to do business at less.

I doubt we will be getting any sell on money tbh

Wigan paid £800K.    I always told my pupils that it is not what you know but what you don't know that matters. If you were in my class you would undoubtedly finish top.
