WHo's going - will we take quite a few?  Numbers like we do at Barnet for example?

Me plus two. Last year we had 1400 there. Will we get similar numbers this season?

Not sure we'll see that many there this season. Last season it was a bit of a novelty with it being a new ground for virtually every Town fan.

A win on Saturday could well put a couple of hundred extra onto the travelling numbers though.

Bit of a shithole I thought, even Hitler couldn't be arsed with the place.
Way off the Luftwaffe flight path but easily accessible by train.
I'll be hunting out some better boozers this time though.

Head to The Old Town instead. Only a 10-15 minute walk from the train station and some decent boozers there.

I'm taking the missus to her first game for this one. Seized the opportunity of her living in London with a romantic Saturday in Stevenage.

She'll be made fully aware throughout the game that I'd trade her for Dembele signing a 5 year deal.

I'm gutted, I have to be at Younger Son Ofs wedding all afternoon near Hitchen, knowing I'm only 20 mins or so away from the game and not able to attend. I have looked at all the timings and no way can I slip away for over 2 hours.

Considering most of it was built AFTER the war that's not surprising. But don't let the facts get in the way.

I went there last year, if you get there early enough there is a free car park just accross the road from the ground(it was free last year anyway).
Just a short walk down the main road was a decent enough pub, name escapes me but was full of town fans, I had to laugh as I was talking to a small group of Stevenage fans who were decent and polite, they actually asked if the town fans would leave them one small corner of the pub for the home fans, the support really was good that day. Another point to note is there are only a couple of turn styles for away fans and they search all away fans so don't turn up five minutes before kick off as the queues will leave you missing the start. And to anyone going, good luck as it cannot be a as bad a Grimsby performance as last year, we had a shocker down there.

It's a 15 min walk so me plus 3, the free car park across the road is still free but a bar steward to get out of. If you walk out of the car park cross the road there is a pub to the left the Our Mutual Friend, reasonable beer away friendly landlord. Go to the right of the ground past Dunhelm Mill there is 2 pubs 1 Toby (avoid) and another one The Roebuck a hundred yards down the rosd.

Old Town is ok but the pubs start getting sniffy towards letting in away fans from time to time. If your arriving by train early and want a breakfast there is 2 cracking cafe's in the town centre just over the road from the station.

What facts are you babbling about?
The fact it was given a Royal Charter in the 1200's or the fact most Towns and Cities have expanded since the second world war?

It might have had a Royal Charter from the 1200s but it was tiny until after the War. It was deliberately expanded along with other New Towns to take 'overspill' from London. The population at the end of the War was around 6,000. It's now getting on for 84,000. The only towns that have expanded at that rate during that period were other New Towns.

What more facts do you want?

And if you're going to dig up some facts to support your case, try to look beyond the first one you find!

Spoke to Stevenage ticket office they advised to buy before the day as theyre expecting a near full away stand.. When I ordered the tickets 3/4 of the seats weren't available, whether they're the ones at BP or already sold I don't know.

Amazing difference in feeling about this Away game than 2 weeks ago
After Sat are people sort of feeling how things may be for rest of season
Listen I'm not a doom merchant but what are expectations with these players and slade and Wilko?
We where at max at Chesterfield
We were uninspiring sat
Why?
First home game of the season
Large crowd
Think we all expected? Better?
Come on Town let's deal with this sat by beating Stevenage

Suspect it's because we're set-up as an away side. Could be in for a repeat of Slade's second season when we started with 7 away wins on the trot.

We need to play differently at home. Should have played DJ or Bolarinwa instead of Summerfield or Berrett on Saturday and put Jones up front with Cardwell, we'd have had more attacking threat then. Should do that more frequently.

23 x 3 = 69 points... I'd settle for all away wins and all home loses, sorry regular fans

Win 2, draw 1, lose 1. Have that sequence all season, or those 4 results in any order and we end up with 81 points. I'd take that, obviously higher unlikely though. We could be that inconsistent and still go up.

A major factor last season was that we'd never played there before, so for the vast majority of Town fans it was a new ground.

I would think this season we'll only take about half as many as last. 600-700 would be my prediction, which is still a very decent following for this level.

not that great when you consider that lincoln  sold there 2500 allocation for exeter within 30 seconds and the game has now had to be switched to Exeter Chiefs sandy park, to accommodate the 10,000 that are travelling down

I'd be surprised if it was that few Les. Should be plenty of exiles as easy to get to from south/London, and on main line from Doncaster as well so would think fair few from Grimsby making trip. Saying that it is holiday time and I am gutted not to be going as stuck here in dirty France crying into my pint of Stella!

Four of my family went there last season and all have said they won't bother this season. Said it was the worst away day in living memory.

They didn't go to Braintree 6 years ago then?

Through the door there came familiar laughter,
I saw your face and heard you call my name.

not that great when you consider that lincoln  sold there 2500 allocation for exeter within 30 seconds and the game has now had to be switched to Exeter Chiefs sandy park, to accommodate the 10,000 that are travelling down

Been allocated 350 actually. Not sure how many have been sold.

bet those sold out within a nano-second. Don't those Devonian carrot crunchers realise what a MASSIVE club they're dealing with?

I would imagine that the 350 is what will have been allocated for the HOME fans once Lincoln have sold what they require.
I suspect that with pay on the gate the Home fans will be lucky to get into three figures

The wife was going away for a girly weekend.
I jokingly remarked  'I don't know whether to spend it watching porn or watching football'
'you may as well spend it watching porn' she replied
That's understanding darling what makes you say that? I asked

She said 'Well you already know how to play football'

My advice for anyone going: try and sit to the left of the stand if you're anticipating using the toilet at half time, or trying to buy a drink/food.

There's only one exit out of the stand and there was just a queue all down the front of the stand to get out which lasted the whole of half time. Unless they've sorted that out!

It was pretty dire wasn't it. The game between that wall at the left hand end and the pitch barrier can't have been more than 4 feet.

my memories from the game last season is the young steward who let us out  at half time for a smoke and when the coppers said we should not have been let out, he threw a wobbly shouting that he was quitting after the game,he got pelters from everyone (poor sodomist), its one hovel of a ground but hopefully a better result on Saturday should make the drive home better this time round,UTM

The physical facilities are much better at Stevenage than at the old Hayes & Yeading ground. But at H&Y we were ALL allowed out at HT for a beer in the clubhouse.

Funnily enough the council where giving them a load of cash to move to a new ground but all of a sudden they changed their mind and pulled the funding leaving them stuck there for the foreseeable.

The old ground is a housing estate now isn't it?

Dont think i can stomach a repeat performance of last season, awful ground and experience, watching Bignot trying to make excuses for a very poor performance made it worse

Sorry KM I meant Stevenage not H&Y. Though I'm sure that if Stevenage move they will build houses on the land, the may as well they are building them everywhere else in the Town.

Broadhall Way is a discussions about non league ground basically, funny tough unlike BP there is never usually any discussions bout capacity, probably because they are never close to filling it.

What a strange experience that game was last season. It started so brightly as my nephew was mascot for it and the town fans sounded brilliant from where I was stood behind the dugout but then the game kicked off and all optimism was lost with one of the most tactically inept performances I have seen from a town team. We couldn't keep hold of the ball, Omar was trying to play every position on the pitch but his own and we may as well have just put the ball in the net for their second goal. Then after the game the Mckeown farce happened on RH. Very strange day indeed

For me that was the day I'd pretty much made my mind up about Bignot, no organisation on and off the pitch.

Shopping in Asda in my Town shirt this morning and listening to the comments of a few locals I think they are expecting a repeat of last year, bloody hope not!
