Excellent interview with Collins. He said that there will be no passengers in the Mariners squad this season. I agree with him totally, too many who didn't turn up on the day.

Gives the impression he thought Bignot had them in meetings for too long.

I like this alot. I like the way he seems almost brutally honest about how it was and how it is now. I'm confident for this season, I can see us being in and around it more so than last year

I also got the impression that Bignot assembled a side full of "passengers" the more and more I think about it the more I feel JF made the right decision.

In my mind Hurst signed far more passengers than Bignot.

Clements, Osborne and Dyson are all passenger sort players when it isn't going for them. Hurst's signings were always solid and reliable. Berrett, Summerfield, Chambers, Comley, Vernon, Jackson etc aren't blessed with great ability but always give their all.

Jackson, Tuton, Brown, Summerfield, Chambers, Boyce and arguably 3 times relegated in 3 seasons Berrett (is that a natational record) weren't passengers. We signed Vernon basically because we couldn't find anyone else he's averaged 2 goals a season for the last 3 years!

We got carried by Bogles goals while Hurst was here last season, if the budget was restricted then fair enough but otherwise recruitment was poor.

Bignot signed ones "for the future" that future was mainly based upon the past i.e. If you'd played for either him or Mickey Moore before you got signed and given the opportunity to play instantly in the first team regardless of your fitness level.

Hurst signed players for next week, Weill in the case of Kayden a Jackson he only looked good for a week at the start of the season, in fairness saying that Hurst signed passengers last season is cobblers - Henderson, Mills, Andrew, Davis, Collins, Comley amongst a couple of others prove that wrong. Possibly not the most expressive but all hard working.

We also got carried away by sitting on a L2 play off place "while Hurst was here" too last season.

I can't remember a manager since  John Newman who didn't sign a passenger or two.
