On the comments on the Hull Daily Mail website comments, one of their fans said:

"Well I can't say I'm too unhappy about this, I always thought we (Hull City supporters) should be able to listen to just our supporters, along with interviews with the manager and players after the match.   Instead, we have to share the airwaves and listen to what Scunthorpe and Grimsby fans are talking about after the final whistle, who cares!"

Well Viking FM are welcome to them! Fed up of Humberside kissing their arses since they got their new stadium!

Because for all the stick they get, they cover 3 local teams and do a very good job IMO.


They give North Ferriby a fair bit of coverage as well. I think they're superb for a local station.

Any local football fan should try tuning into other local BBC stations when they go to away games. The BBC Radio Humberside coverage is exceptional.

Lincs FM is very pro Linoln City and Humberside all things Hull.


No, they have to divide their air time fairly based on the demographics of the listener. That means giving more time to things that are of interest to the region as a whole.

Grimsby & Scunthorpe fans can moan all they like that Hull got preferential treatment, but they are by far the bext supported football club in the BBC Humberside area and Hull City news is of interest to far more people in Humberside than Grimsby Town or Scunthorpe United news.

And similarly Lincoln City get the same in Lincolnshire because they are the only professional club in the county. It would be ridiculous if they gave the same level of coverage to Gainsborough Trinity, Boston United, Grantham Town, Stamford, Lincoln United & Spalding United.

I seem to remember in the 1990s and early 2000s you got Hull City and Scunthorpe fans moaning that we got better treatment when we were 2 divisions above them for years and years.
