Don't know why you keep quoting this as it is irrelevant.
I would add Matt Heywood started nearly 300 games above the 4th tier before he joined GTFC. I rest my case

All about opinions. I trust the opinion of various L1 managers over mine and others. Equally, Sir Alan signed Matt Heywood and he knew a player!

Yeah I accept that Rodley, but sometimes these things happen. For me, he is just a fairly lightweight, limited player and I don't see any real strengths in his game. You can't argue with the stats as you say - obviously he's played at L1 level, and I'm no manager. Just an opinion.

I think the comparison of the two is a good one. Both have talent but seem to struggle to really impact games when you need them to. If the friendlies are anything to go by then Slade certainly seems to feel he has something to offer though.

As has been said - Slade obviously rates him, and Hurst did too. I just hope we see that player with true league 1 credentials, because I haven't spotted him yet.

Fair do's. I think Slade (unlike Hurst) will only play him in the centre as opposed to as a makeshift left winger.

If he was good then he must have deteriorated as soon as he put on a black and white shirt-brings nothing to the team

He did suffer three consecutive  relegations for three different clubs from league 1 and 2 before he signed for us so perhaps the problems set in earlier.

When Joe Waters came over he was asked about the side he played in and he made the point that they played the same home and away. They had a formula and everyone knew their role. John Newman started that in Div 4 and it was continued by Kerr and Booth. Bobby Mitchell's job was to get the ball to players who could play as soon as he could. He was one of the most unselfish players we have ever had, far from the best as he admitted himself, but essential to the team.

I'm not saying Berrett is the same but every side needs grafters like Mitchell.

Bobby Mitchel played a huge part in our 1980 championship winning side. I remember that in the last home game of the season Kerr subbed him just before the end and made him walk off the opposite side of the pitch from the tunnel so that he would have to walk all the way round the pitch, which he did to tumultuous and sustained applause. It was a fitting tribute given his contribution that year. He should be regarded as a legend, and yet for some reason many denigrate him. They really shouldn't. He complimented Waters perfectly.

Bobby Mitchell was a decent player for Town, but a legend?

Most of that side are regarded as such, and he was a great contributor. Maybe calling him a legend is going too far.  I guess my point is that I think he is a bit under appreciated.

Bobby Mitchell..... those were the days when we were serious contenders.

When Leeds trainer Les Cocker was once told Norman Hunter had broken a leg, he asked: “Whose is it?”
