I knew GY (and Lincolnshire) men were prominent in the early SAS, but I didn't know about the influence of one Grimbarian on the Home Guard. If you want to practice irregular war, you know which town to recruit in.

Was totally surprised by it. There was a link to it from a review of Dunkirk on the Yahoo homepage. Obvious a REAL leftie website that Jacobinmag.

I knew about the Osterley training ground and vaguely I'd heard about socialist involvement from a documentary a few years back about 'the Real Dad's Army' but didn't realise where TW was from.

There was that Dad's Army episode where they go for guerrilla warfare training under that Spanish emigre officer with Spanish Civil War experience and it all makes sense.

No pasaran!
